Game Philosophy about At Will Healing[edit]

So, at will healing is a tricky thing. It's not really balanced, at least not for low level play. There are ways, but usually it requires investment (a feat and a class level for tomb tainted necromancers, and you're unable to benefit from healing things for other party members) or is circumstantial (crusader healing maneuvers are every other round, and are intended to require combat) or is low/circumstantial (Martial Spirit stance). But it can be done.

This one is almost cure light wounds though. I wonder how you justify this standing up next to a 1st level cleric who can only use this like 3/day at best. I'm sure there's some string attached. Oh hey, Personal only, ok that... nevermind, Ideal Heart is touch, so it's just like CLWs. Maybe it's in the action eco- oh, no. It's swift. Swift healing. So you know, 5th level spell equal, at will. That sure is... something. And it's extraordinary, so it won't provoke. It won't even break his attack routine, because swift actions.

Surely this is Very High. I mean most DMs don't even allow the tomb tainted dread necro tricks, I'm sure this is...

Ah, it's Low...

I'd rate these, but it would be negative. Instead, before I try that, I offer this suggestion. Make these grant temp hp. It's "healing" which doesn't stack, so you can overwhelm it with rapid attacks to cause real lasting damage. It still fits in the ideal of "healing". And it won't require any long details, just make it temp. I suggested you do this for this one and its higher level versions. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:06, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
