Shouldn't be a World Dominator Power[edit]

Hitting only 10 targets is way too precise. --Foxwarrior (talk) 01:40, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Wow, seriously?!? Fine, I'll take it off the list. --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:17, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
WotC's VH caster classes cover almost all the concept space, but are seriously lacking in wide-reaching abilities. The World Dominator carves out a more exclusive niche than any other class by having those wide-reaching abilities, but it compensates for that by not having precise stuff. --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:18, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
The Universe Dominator is even better. In order to toast toast, the Universe Dominator destroys entire solar systems to produce enough radiation to toast a slice of toast a billion miles away. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:39, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
Oi. But seriously, what do you think of this power? --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:49, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
If you could only use it to target one creature, with no bonus to the DC, it would still be a Medium-range pair of SoDs cast as a single full-round action, and thus fairly impressive. --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:00, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
But as is, it's a really quirky and fun power, right? Decisions, decisions - do I try to wipe out the whole party in one fell swoop and risk failing, or just asphyxiate the wizard? And it encourages you to try to isolate your enemies and cut them off from their support. Plus, you've gotta love the fluff... --Luigifan18 (talk) 04:15, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
The thing is, if you use this against a party of four characters who somehow would normally have a 50% chance on succeeding at either a Fortitude or a Will save, the chance that you'll get every single one of them with at least one of the effects is 49.79%. If you use it against one character, there's only a 1% chance that they'll be fine. Generally speaking, saves often scale more poorly than that, so I'm actually understating how extreme this power is. And the thing is, there are plenty of spells and powers that aren't isolation-flavored but still don't let you SoD more than one creature.
Also, I'm slightly confused about why a psionic power (generally fluffed to be slightly more dependent on the thoughts of the manifester) would make the sound of a human or elven woman when cast by a microforged conglomerate on a team of hats in an exploding volcano on Venus. --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:31, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
The whole power's actually based on a song - "Cadence of Her Last Breath" by Nightwish. The lyrics are in the sidebar, and a link to the song is placed on the title of the DC table within the fluff text. The displays are both based on imagery from the song. --Luigifan18 (talk) 17:19, 15 November 2012 (UTC) (Edited 20:03, 3 October 2015 (UTC))

Another Nightwish Fan!![edit]

It's great to see another Nightwish fan on here! I am tempted to upvote the power just for that. But I won't.

It seems that this is two powers in one. Either one is very powerful, but together, I think they are too much. It's also based on two different schools of power: telekinesis and telepathy. I would say divide this into two powers:
A) the telepathic crushing despair portion, which can include the fact that the victims simply stop moving, and don't even breathe. This would require remove curse, break enchantment, or similar to fix. And the levels of the ability should be such that break enchantment works regardless of caster.
B) the telekinetic destruction of the diaphragm, which would induce panic as the victim realizes she can't breathe. (Fort save to prevent damage, Will save to prevent panic). This would require regenerate or heal to fix. It's similar to limb loss in it's effect, so cure spell would not be sufficient. This would be a higher level ability, as it's counters should be available at the same level as the attack.

I would also limit it to 1 target per 5 caster levels. Any more is too powerful.
