Another lots of damage maneuver[edit]

Magical rays means ranged touch attacks, doesn't it? So combine this with one of your handful of extra attacks maneuvers and you're dealing easily 400 or more damage. --Foxwarrior (talk) 20:11, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Problem is, ½ initiator level isn't enough for this maneuver and ⅔ would make things too complicated (it'd make a player say something like "every third initiator level doesn't count... wait, what? Why isn't it just 1d6 per initiator level?") So I don't think this is feasibly nerfable. --Luigifan18 (talk) 21:03, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
½ initiator level is about what most maneuvers do (1d6 per maneuver level, to be more precise), and this is a boost so you can stack it crazily. --Foxwarrior (talk) 21:21, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Or was it normally 2d6 per maneuver level? It's been quite a while since I've looked at any WotC books. No matter, this is still a boost. --Foxwarrior (talk) 21:27, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
I nerfed the damage, but... how can you stack this like crazy? It ends at the end of your turn! --Luigifan18 (talk) 18:09, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
You stack it with a strike that synergizes well, and it becomes crazy immediately. Or, it used to. --Foxwarrior (talk) 18:56, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Example, please? --Luigifan18 (talk) 19:35, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Law of the Jungle might even hit with 9 of your 12 attacks, when they're touch attacks, so it's still dealing quite possibly two hundred damage or more, post-nerf. Martial Blitz would be a better choice in those situations where the enemy has a decent touch AC; actually, with a point of bio-energy drain and 3 essentia invested, you're doing as many as 14 attacks at full attack bonus; against a dragon or something that's easily 13 hits for over 300 damage post-nerf. --Foxwarrior (talk) 19:57, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Whoops, those are both melee. --Foxwarrior (talk) 01:00, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

A better comparison might be to how you could do with magic items instead, since this replaces the normal stats for the bolts. A +1 Brilliant Energy Flaming Frost Shock Merciful throwing weapon and a Strength-based character could get you to actually marginally more damage, but it's not Returning, it's not quite as good as a touch attack, and it costs a significant amount of a level 17 character's Wealth-By-Level. --Foxwarrior (talk) 01:00, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
