This is amusingly silly, but save DCs scale with very slightly less than character level, and attack bonuses scale with notably more than character level. At level 15, hitting a DC 30 spell is easy, and optimizing for frequency of critical hits is pretty easy too.

Hmmm... okay, I changed it to an opposed caster level check. That serves as a much better analogy of the contest between pitcher and batter, anyways. --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:41, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

The average roll of a caster level 15 character is 25.5. Admittedly, because there's another d20 in there, it's harder for the initiator to guarantee success, but the initiator probably will succeed. --Foxwarrior (talk) 03:43, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
That's acceptable, I suppose. But maybe I should impose a −5 penalty to the attack roll if the maneuver is used more than once in a given encounter, as it won't catch the spellcasters off-guard anymore. --Luigifan18 (talk) 15:28, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
