A medicine stick is an important article vital to the witch doctor for his rituals to contact the spirits as well as heal and harm as he desires. The medicine stick is usually much heavier and blunter at the top than at the bottom which is carved to a sharp point, so that the witch doctor be set upon by assailants he may defend himself in combat as tribal warfare is commonplace. A medicine stick is a double weapon. You can fight with it as if fighting with two weapons, but if you do, you incur all the normal attack penalties associated with fighting with two weapons, just as if you were using a one-handed weapon and a light weapon. A witch doctor wielding a medicine stick in one hand can’t use it as a double weapon—only one end of the weapon can be used in any given round. A medicine stick may not be purchased by conventional means other than either stealing it from a witch doctor or killing one doing so and even then its powers are unrecognized to all but the tribe that created it
