1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
A very rare and intricate weapon, the espada pistola is effectively a rapier with an overwrought guard. Unlike a normal rapier, or most swords for that matter, the espada pistola has a pistol built into it. A trigger placed alongside the hilt allows the espada pistola to be fired. An espada pistola can be used both as a ranged and melee weapon, counting as a sword when used in melee and a firearm when used at range. An espada pistola holds four rounds, which can be reloaded as a move action.
The melee and the ranged parts of the weapon must be enhanced separately and can be made of different materials. Calculate the weapon's hit point and hardness using the highest of the two material and the higher enhancement value between both the melee and ranged version.
You can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to attack rolls with a espada pistola sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon for you. You can’t wield a rapier in two hands in order to apply 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus to damage.
When used as a melee weapon, an espada pistola counts as a rapier for feat, effect, and abilities. While an espada pistola do not share its proficiency with the rapier, a character with proficiency with the rapier and all firearms is automatically proficient with the espada pistola. In the hand of a proficient user, the melee and ranged part of the weapon shares any bonuses granted by feats (such as Weapon Focus (Rapier) or Improved Critical). However the ranged part of the weapon does not otherwise count as a rapier.
