Talk:Surreptitious Bandit (3.5e Martial Discipline)
MoreEdit
The discipline looks all well and good, but it feels bare. It needs more maneuvers IMO. Tons of stances, but not much for maneuvers themselves. -- Eiji-kun 12:04, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- There really aren't many classes that have access to only one discipline; If I made it only have stances, it could still be useful. The focus on stances is also a bit of a tie-in to the Sublime Cutthroat. That said, If you have maneuver suggestions, suggest them. --Foxwarrior 07:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Challenge accepted.
1:Boost, grab something as a swift or free action. Like quickdraw, but for everything. 1:Strike, quick grappling hook attack for quick escapes. Can be used to hook and disarm at range, with penalty. Needs to use something rope-like. 1:Strike, make a normal attack then withdraw so you don't provoke AoO.
2:Counter, either you or a ally in touch range gets scaling bonus vs traps as you jump out/push them out of the way.
3:Rush, move from a hidden spot to another hidden spot, but don't get seen even if you run in front of them. Must end hidden again.
4:Counter, evasion plus you can move to the edge of the area effect, and hide if you've moved somewhere you can hide in.
5:Strike, poisonous blade attack with DC that scales with level, supernatural. 5:Boost, temporarly be really good at squeezing, slip through bars, tight cracks, and otherwise impossible, epic level-type escape artist checks.
6:Strike, draw hidden weapon and attack, dealing large damage. Shades of iajutsu focus if you need an idea. 6:Strike, attack and some check or save. If they fail you've switched whatever item you had in your hand with an item they had. They might not notice (spot? sense motive?)
7:Counter, if you're found activate this to throw a decoy. Decoy is very realistic. They follow that while you escape. Supernatural.
8:Strike, something akin to a monk's quivering fist. A very thin slice which you could open up into a grievous wound easily. Maybe supernatural if you can do it from afar.
9:Strike, backstab a creature, and if it dies you temporarly steal their form ala polymorph. Supernatural.
- Done. -- Eiji-kun 07:41, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Done finally, except the third one can be replicated with a 5' step, the fifth one is pretty redundant with Distracted Foe Misses the Thief, and the seventh and eleventh ones are supernatural while this discipline only aims to be very extraordinary. The other suggestions were neat, though. --Foxwarrior 07:42, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
