The Great Flayer[edit]

The Great Flayer is a large great axe apparently made of meteoric iron. The ritual in order to unlock it potential can only be performed by a wolfblooded slayer.

The Great Flayer start as +2 Bane (Animal, Shapeshifter, Magical Beast) Large Greataxe with a x4 critical multiplier, it can be used by both medium and large creature without penalties. When in the hand of a wolfblooded slayer however it true nature can be shown. In order to use the Great Slayer to it full potential, it user must abandon any other legacy weapon he or she own and forgo any quest to collect them (else you will incur the wrath of the beast)

Acquisition[edit]

Unless it is wielded by a wolfblooded slayer, the weapon can be called with a 2 hours ritual done under the full moon. The ritual involve burning 50 gp of various incense and sacrificing an animal to the beast. As the ritual end a dread wraith will appear and must be defeated in single combat by the ritualist. Once killed in single combat, the Great Flayer will manifest on the shadowly remain of the creature, if killed by any other mean the blade does not appear and the ritual failed.

The process to summon the blade require a knowledge (religion) check with a DC 25. wolfblooded slayer do not have to make this knowledge, as the knowledge of the Great Flayer is passed by the blood of the beast.

The Blood of the Wolf[edit]

A wolfblooded slayer who just acquired may start the ritual, she must let bath the blade in her very blood. This will awaken it dormant properties.

Aura of the Beast: Animals will never attack the wolfblooded slayer unless provoked, even if they are they must make a DC 20 will save or be panicked for one hour and flee the wolfblooded slayer.

Flaying Strike: Whenever a creature is damaged by the great the Great Flayer permanently lower it natural armor by one. The damage to the natural armor can be reversed by a regenerate spell.

The Fire of the Wyld[edit]

Once the wolfblooded slayer reach character level 13 she may increase the power of the blade further. The blade must be covered by the stitched skin of at least her CR worth of fey and set on fire. The blade will not be damaged but will permanently change when in the hand of the wolfblooded slayer]. The blade become +3 and gain the flaming and flaming burst magical property as well as the following abilities:

  • The Fire Within: As long as you are in wolvenrage you are immune to fire.

The Eager of the Hunt[edit]

Once the wolfblooded slayer reach character level 16 she may again increase the power of the Great Flayer. She must do the ritual of the calling again, this time however it will summon a CR appropriate legendary animal that she must hunt. Once the legendary animal slain the weapon become +4 and gain the following ability:

  • Alpha Packmaster: The wielder of the Great Flayer gant a +4 flanking bonus to her allies instead of a +2 bonus.
  • No Hides Tough Enough: The Great Flayer bypass all damage reduction save DR/-.
