Ranting ravens are talkative birds capable of speaking Common, and do so regularly and often. They tend to bargain for treats in exchange for information or services.

A ranting raven is about 2 feet long with a 4 foot wingspan. Most sport pure black plumage, though some have tufts of white. Occasional exotic specimens have deep red or evening blue feathers.

Combat

They combine their claws as a single attack when defending themselves or providing a distraction. They prefer to annoy and pester targets first.

Raven's Sass (Ex): The ranting raven's Goad feat's DC is based on its Wisdom instead of Charisma. If a creature fails a save against a ranting raven's Goad, it also takes 1 Daunt level which lasts for 1 hour. The Daunt from a particular ranting raven does not stack with itself, however the Daunt level from another ranting raven does.

Familiar

Ranting ravens can be used as familiars for spellcasters with the Improved Familiar feat and at least caster level 3rd.
