Faith, Psychopomp of Claverdown
Faith was an optimistic cleric from the corrupt urban sprawl of Claverdown; however, when she was afflicted by a curse, she was forced into exile, where she found death, life, and vestigedom.
Level: 5th
Binding DC: 26
Special Requirement: Yes
Legend
Faith as a mortal was born on a doomed world surrounded by death and decay. Despite being a cleric of the dead, she was ever-optimistic and turned to street work. The world would not give her a pause, and any of her efforts would be undone by a greater evil, or perhaps twisted into reversing any good she made. Despite all of her good intentions, she soon found herself afflicted by a mortal curse, forcing her into exile. She was noted as a pacifist, good samaritan, and troublemaker. Her journey was long, and in the end, she was not given any just reward; instead, for charitable acts she committed along the way, she was assassinated.
But the story does not end here; it is said that a powerful deity intervened, preventing her death as she raised in a blinding flash of light, blinding her attackers and allowing her friends to stop them. This intervention of Fate mixed with the powerful curse that was laid on her caused her to be both living and dead; the dead Faith was not allowed to exist anymore and so she slipped into the 'plane' of vestiges. She was happy, for she knew another version of herself would keep the good work, and happy she did not need to suffer this world anymore.
Special summoning
Faith will only make pacts with non-undead and non-evil creatures. She makes an exception for good-aligned undead and repentant evil creatures; she will make a pact with them if they willingly make a bad pact with her.
Manifestation
Faith appears as a woman in her early 30's with medium messy black hair, pale skin, and a warm smile. She wears long flowing robes that vanish in ethereal smoke and holds a sap in her left hand.
Sign
The binder takes on a serene ethereal look, but her color becomes muted, becoming almost black and white. The binder also gains a blank silver holy symbol that is also a watch when opened; the holy symbol can be recalled to the binder's hands as a move action if dropped or otherwise lost and vanishes once the pact is over. While displaying your sign, psychopomp creatures are one step friendlier towards you than normal (to a maximum of Friendly). This is only an 'initial attitude' — if you take any actions that harm or offend them, their attitude will adjust appropriately.
Influence
The binder acts kinder and extremely optimistic, is pushed toward doing good work, and a distaste for violence in general. The binder will attempt to provide aid for those in need, but will also show great wrath toward those who cause harm and exploit others; the binder will also become slightly more hostile toward religious zealots and the undead. Finally, the binder will show mercy; she will never kill a helpless creature or a creature she subdued and will always attempt to subdue intelligent (intelligence of 3 or above) creatures instead of killing them outright. This does not apply to obviously evil creatures.
Granted Abilities
Banish Undead
The binder gains the ability to turn undead as a cleric of her binder level. She also gains the benefits of exalted turning. She may only use her turn undead attempts to turn undead; however, the ability is usable at will. Once you have used this ability you cannot do so for 5 rounds.
This ability may only be used if the binder displays Faith's sign, using her holy symbol as a catalyst.
Healer's Touch
Faith studied positive energy extensively, allowing the binder to tap into her knowledge, granting the ability to heal both herself and others with a touch. She can cure a total number of hit points of damage equal to 3× her binder level × her charisma bonus per binding The binder may choose to divide her spread life ability among multiple recipients, and she doesn’t have to use it all at once. Using healer's touch is a standard action and restores the health of creature no matter the type (even undead or construct).
Alternatively, she may spend 10 points of healing to replicate the effect of lesser restoration, remove blindness\deafness, remove disease, or neutralize poison.
This ability may only be used if the binder displays Faith's sign, using her holy symbol as a catalyst.
Optimism
The binder is immune to any morale penalty and [fear]-effect; this ability is only active if you are under Faith's influence.
Psychopomp Abilities
The binder gains the traits and abilities of a psychopomp, gaining the following abilities as supernatural abilities at will: chill touch, death's door, detect thoughts, gentle repose, invisibility, speak with dead, touch of fatigue.
Additionally, once per binding per point of charisma bonus the binder has, she may use one of the following abilities as a supernatural ability: animate blessed dead (last 24 hours), awesome light, ethereal jaunt, fear, greater gaseous form, undeath to death.
This ability may only be used if the binder displays Faith's sign, using her holy symbol as a catalyst. Once you have used one of these abilities, you cannot use it or another for 5 rounds.
Urban Knowledge
Faith was from the urban sprawls of Claverdown where she did plenty of charitable work, thus the binder gains a +4 bonus on all skill checks involving navigating an urban environment or interacting with its underclass. Additionally, the binder is always proficient with the sap.
