Academy Graduate

An academy graduate has been trained at a reputable military academy and exceeded in tactical and weapon training. They eschew the uses of mounts and glorious charges to focus on commanding and inspiring their troops. Through superior training she has learned how to use martial maneuvers and has a superior grasp on tactics.

Class: Cavalier

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: Armor and Weapon Proficiency, Mount, Tactician, Cavalier's Charge, Challenge, Expert Trainer, Banner, Greater Tactician, Greater Banner, Mighty Charge, Master Tactician, Supreme Charge

Benefit: An Academy Graduate receive the following class features:

Armor and Weapon Proficiency: An academy graduate is proficient with all simple and martial weapons as well as one exotic melee weapon and one ranged weapon of her choice. She is proficient with light and medium as well as light and heavy shield.

This alters the cavalier's normal proficiency.

Academy Training (Ex): An academy graduate may use her Intelligence instead of her Charisma for any Cavalier's class features. She also possesses a good Will save instead of a good Fortitude save. An academy graduates add all Intelligence-based skill as class skill.

Maneuvers: An academy graduate gains maneuvers known, maneuver readied and stance known as a WarbladeToB. She has access to Iron Heart discipline, White Raven discipline and one more discipline of their choice. Unlike most initiators, an academy graduate prepares her maneuver every day, choosing a number of maneuvers she qualifies for equal to her number of maneuvers known and having the ability to initiate them through the day as normal.

She may recover a single maneuver as a move action, she cannot use a recovered maneuver until the start of her next turn.

This ability replaces challenge and mount.

Bonus Teamwork Feat (Ex): At 1st level an academy graduate gains a bonus Teamwork feat she meets the prerequisites of. At 3rd level and each 3 levels she gains a new Teamwork feat she meets the prerequisite of. As standard action a number of times per day equal to her Intelligence modifier, an academy graduate can change the latest feat she received from this ability for another Teamwork feat she meets the prerequisite of. An academy graduate ignores the Combat Expertise and Point Blank Shot prerequisite when selecting [Teamwork] feat.

Tactical Aura (Ex): An academy graduate can grant one teamwork feat she has to all allies within 30 feet of her. She can change which feat she grants as a swift action. Her allies do not need to meet the prerequisite of the feat. This ability counts as Tactician for the purpose of meeting prerequisites, any item or feat which improves the range of Tactician also improves the range of Tactical Aura.

This ability replaces tactician.

Clear Head (Ex): An academy graduate of 3rd level is capable of keeping her head clear and retaining perfect clarity over the battlefield. She adds her Intelligence bonus to her Will saving throw.

This ability replaces the cavalier's charge.

Expert Order (Ex): At 4th level, an academy graduate gains the Combat Advice feat as a bonus feat. Additionally when she uses combat advice, she also grants the affected ally her Order's challenge bonus, as long as she kept her edict in the last 24 hours.

This ability replaces Expert Trainer.

Graduation's Honor (Ex): A 5th level academy graduate is capable of showing her competence and education by displaying her graduation honor, often in the form of a special banner, cape, badge or pairs of epaulets . This counts as Cavalier's Banner for all other intents and purposes.

At 10th level and every 5 levels thereafter, the bonuses increase by 1.

This ability alters a cavalier's banner.

Tactical Genius (Ex): At 9th level, an academy graduate may grant two Teamwork feat through her Tactical Aura class feature. She can change one or both feats as swift action. At 17th level she may grant three teamwork feat instead.

This ability replaces greater tactician and master tactician.

Quick Order (Ex): An 11th level academy graduate is able to command one of her allies within 30 feet as a standard action, granting that ally a move or standard action. If the ally chooses a standard action, they become Staggered next round ignoring immunities.

This ability replaces mighty charge.

Legendary Tactician (Ex): At 20th level the academy graduate grants any number of Teamwork feat she knows to her allies with her Tactical Aura ability. She can change which feats she grants as a free action.

This ability replaces supreme charge.

Path of War Changes: if using Path of War the following changes are suggested:

  • The academy graduate use maneuver known, maneuver readied, stance known and max maneuver level as the Table: Archetype Maneuver Progression.
  • The academy graduate's initiation modifier is Intelligence.
  • The academy graduate has access to Golden Lion, Piercing Thunder, Tempest Gale and one of their choices.
  • The academy graduate gain gambits as a warlord of their level, they recover their maneuver as a warlord.
