|description=The result of consuming a lot of toxic heavy metals at once. If not treated immediately it may have serious long term effects. This covers general heavy metal poisoning such as from lead, but other metals may have other or more serious effects on the body. This type of poisoning is generally hard to do intentionally and generally involves swallowing a lead or similar metal object and letting it corrode. After 1 minute of digestion the effects of acute heavy metal poisoning come into play.

At first, the subject must make a Fortitude save or suffer the effects of confusion for 1 minute. This is a poison, but not a mind-affecting effect. During this time their ability to feel is suppressed and they are immune to pain effects. 1 minute afterward upon the failure of the secondary save they experience 1 round of nausea and then fall unconscious on the subsequent round, taking 1d4 points of ability damage to all ability scores. On a natural 1, the damage becomes ability drain.

If the creature ceases to be exposed to the heavy metal they will slowly naturally get better. It begins to act like a disease, dealing 1 point of ability damage to all mental ability scores each day until three successful saves or 3 days have passed, whichever comes first. Remove disease does not cure this, but neutralize poison does.

Constant low level exposure to dangerous heavy metals produces the disease-like effects without the acute symptoms. Years and years of exposure may build up enough heavy metal in the body to deal acute heavy metal poisoning on its own.

It has no price as a poison as metals vary in cost, and it is generally impractical to use as an actual poison. The amount of metal required to deal acute heavy metal poisoning is very obvious.
