A mechanical humanoid creature, its features are plain but it dresses in bright whites and reds to indicate its roll as a healer, if only for the mechanical.

Aisleds would get damaged on their journeys, so some took up the task of keeping the bodies of themselves and others intact. Aisled mechanics consider themselves battle medics,

Combat[edit]

Aisled mechanics are not warriors and do not seek combat, but sometimes combat seeks them. They usually try and pull any damaged allies out of harms way if possible, but they are not afraid to repair on the spot if they must.

Aisled Mechanic Traits: Aisled pilgrims have all the usual aisled traits, including having a Constitution score and lacking immunity to critical hits and sneak attacks. Beyond their racial abilities, the aisled bodyguard has Moderate BAB, 6+Int skills, d8 HD, and good Reflex and Will saves. They are proficient in weapons, in light and medium armor, and shields (but not tower shields). They also gain Handyman as a bonus feat. The example aisled mechanic has placed their ability bonus in Intelligence and their racial skill bonus in Craft.

Analyze (Su): An aisled can Concentrate to examine any construct or object within 60 ft and determine some facts about them. Using this against terrain examines a 5 ft cube of material at a time. They may need to make an appropriate Craft or Knowledge check for details, though basic visible information is always known to them. On the first round they get a full scan of any surface imperfections and damage, and a general sense of if they are undamaged, damaged (less than full hp but greater than half), badly damaged (half or less hp), inert, or destroyed. On the second round they get an interior scan below the surface as if viewing under the skin without invasive measures, and their exact hp and hardness is determined. On the third round, they get a general makeup of the construct or object and any status effects they are currently suffering from, even normally invisible maladies such as energy drain and domination. If they are suffering from multiple effects they can spend additional rounds, each round revealing a new effect.

Display Face (Ex): The aisled's face is a monitor or screen, and while by default it displays its face it can change this image with focus, effectively giving it simple image at will, limited to the display of its monitors. These monitors (and the versatility of its voice) also help it with disguises, but only from a distance. It has a +4 racial bonus on disguise checks, but only at distances of 20 ft and further where the fact it is a video image is less obvious. Lastly it can display simple pantomimes, images, and single words on its face as a free action which can allow any creature that can see it to understand it even if otherwise unable to hear. For obscure or indirect images, a Sense Motive check of DC 15 can reveal the meaning behind the display even if they do not share a language.

As a move action to toggle they can choose to simply illuminate with their screens, shedding light as a torch or bullseye lantern at their choosing.

Immunities: Aisleds are unaffected by positive and negative energy damage, and cannot benefit from positive or negative energy healing (repairSpC spells function just fine). They are immune to energy drain, exhaustion, fatigue, chemical paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning.

Mimicry (Ex): Aisleds learn from others, and they can closely duplicate the skills of others. 1/day they can get the result of a d20 on an identical ability check or skill check made within the last round, using their own ranks and score. For example, an allied bard can roll a natural 19 on their Bluff check, and the aisled also treat themselves as rolling a natural 19, but only for the purpose of making a Bluff check within 1 round. They gain an additional use of this ability at 5 HD and every 5 HD beyond.

Repair (Ex): Aisleds count as having Craft Construct for the purpose of repairing constructs. In addition 3/day they are able to duplicate the effect of repair light damage with a caster level equal to their character level as an extraordinary ability.

Scrap: Sometimes things cannot be saved, and must be scrapped. In a process that takes 1 minute per pound of object an aisled mechanic can break down an object into its base components (so long as he has a tool with hardness greater than the target material). This recovers half the objects value as "scrap", a generic resource of materials which can substitute gold costs for the repair and construction of objects, and the costs from their Repair ability. For the purpose of breaking down destroyed constructs, they gain 25 gp of scrap per HD of the construct. If the construct was composed mostly of a special material, each HD has the additional value of a piece of ammunition of that material (generally 1/50th the cost of a weapon of said material). For example, an adamantine golem is 54 HD and made of adamantine, for 85 gp a HD, or 4590 gp of scrap. It is not uncommon for any generic aisled mechanic to have 10 x 1d10 gp of scrap on them at any one time.
