Upon the completion this spell, the pillow touched changes in size to be slightly smaller than the caster. On the surface of the fabric, a two-dimensional representation of a person (real or imaginary) appears. While two-dimensional, the image is animated and realistic, appearing to blink, breathe, change facial expressions, even change position (causing the pillow itself to move), according to the wishes of the caster. This minor movement does not grant the pillow a move speed, and it is incapable of any form of attack. While the identity of the person represented cannot be changed once the spell is cast, details such as clothing and hairstyle can be altered by concentrating on the desired change as a move equivalent action.

Animate Body Pillow can be made permanent with a [[SRD:Permanency|permanency]] spell.
