It looked like the mother of all tornadoes, roaring like a train in the distance. Buildings were torn up and animals sucked away into the dark clouds. But within those clouds were no natural phenomena, for the tornado bore countless glowing red eyes and gnashing fangs and teeth, a funnel of alien meat and starving maws which hunger for your flesh.

Some say the avatar off consumption was some aberrant form of hecatoncheires with 100 mouths instead of hands. Others say it was a powerful archdemon of gluttony who had gotten warped by something in the far realm. Even others say its merely the shadow of some terrible and impossible being from beyond that passes over this world. Whatever its origins, the thing known as the avatar of consumption is filled with a single desire to devour this world and its reality. Its form is indistinct and difficult to observe, not from any real obscuring miasma but from an inability to fathom the nature of the beast. What is certain is that is appears as some vague predatory being, slightly different to each, with countless heads which spawn in and out of its swirling amorphous body. A tornado of elastic dimension-defying mouths rip in and out over its squamous rubbery flesh, and a windstorm further obscures it, tearing up dust and debris and feeding it into the infinite gullet which is the avatar of consumption.

Unlike most outsiders, the avatar of consumption does not need to breath. The avatar of consumption rarely speaks, only howls, but is said to understand Abyssal, Celestial, and Infernal.

Combat

The avatar of consumption is more natural disaster than creature. Like a tornado, it moves across the land destroying everything it touches and eating anyone in its path. It seems to favor places where creatures live, leaving them homeless (and often lifeless as well). Only when faced with something that can hurt it does it turn attention to destroying the meal who would fight back. It is intelligent enough to use tactics and form plots, though arrogant enough to assume by default it does not need to. It tries to swallow as many creatures as possible to keep its hungry vortex full and happy.

Its many heads have reach, but their true length is not apparent until they attack.

Augmented Critical (Ex): The avatar of consumption’s bite threatens a critical hit on a natural attack roll of 19–20, dealing triple damage on a successful critical hit.

Breath Weapon (Su): An avatar of consumption possesses two different types of breath weapons, each which is launched from all six of its mouths simultaneously. As a result it can fire in six different directions at once, or fire it all against the same targets. Regardless how many breath weapons pass over a target, they only need to make any saving throws once per round against the combined damage of the breath weapon. Regardless which breath weapon it chooses to use, its breath has a cooldown time of 1d4 rounds.

Its first breath is a sharp inhale which drags objects into its many mouths. It is a 60 foot cone which drags you 30 feet closer to the avatar of consumption and the avatar of consumption can take an attack of opportunity against its victims (usually a bite and subsequent swallowing). A Fortitude save only pulls you in 15 feet, and your movement does not provoke.

Its second breath instead expels the contents of its stomach violently, dousing the targets in acid and possibly their allies. It is a 120 foot line of 40 acid damage per line, and it ejects any swallowed allies who are still alive along the line. This deals 12d6 falling damage to both the ejected victim, and to any creatures in the line who have failed their saves and knocks them both prone. The ejected creature or creatures travel to the full 120 feet away, or until they hit someone, whichever is shorter. A Reflex save halves the damage and negates being struck by an ejected creature and falling prone.

The DC for both weapons is 47, and the save is Constitution-based.

Cacophonous Howl (Ex): The swirling chaos that composes the avatar of consumption's body results in a constant maddening howl. As long as its Hungry Vortex is up, the avatar of consumption releases a constant howl. It automatically fails all Move Silently checks and any creatures within 30 feet must make a Fortitude save or be permanently deafened, DC 47. A successful save renders the person immune for 24 hours, but the noise still gives a -20 penalty on Listen checks, and shouting requires a DC 10 Listen check to make out (DC 20 for normal speech). The DCs do not account for the penalty on Listen checks.

Devour (Su): The avatar of consumption can devour almost anything it eats. Its natural attacks are treated as the appropriate counter-spells to destroy force effects like wall of force as well as destroy the layers of a prismatic sphere (though only one layer per attack). Creatures slain by the avatar of consumption are reduced to dust as if disintegrate were used on them. It can also devour any unattended mundane materials in its wall just by moving through it. It treats obstructions as difficult terrain for purposes of movement, destroying them as if disintegrate was cast on them. Unattended magic items get a saving throw (Fortitude DC 42 partial) and creatures and attended items are unaffected. The saving throw is Charisma-based.

Extraordinary Health (Ex): The avatar of consumption always receives maximum hit points per hit die.

Hungry Vortex (Ex): The avatar of consumption is a tornado of teeth and raging gluttony which forms a dark miasma around the already obscured form of this beast. This hungry vortex acts as a shield that has 240 hp. The shield does not regenerate on its own, but recovers via creatures the avatar of consumption has swallowed (see Swallow Whole). The vortex grants the avatar of consumption's Charisma modifier as a deflection bonus to AC.

While the shield has at least 1 hp remaining, the avatar of consumption is immune to critical hits and sneak attacks, and is under the effect of a wind wall which tightly wraps around its body and protects it from conventional ranged weapons. When the shield is depleted, it loses the immunity to critical hits and sneak attacks and its wind wall, but not the deflection bonus to AC.

Immunities (Ex): The avatar of consumption is immune to ability damage, ability drain, death effects, disease, energy drain, fear effects, mind-affecting effects, paralysis, petrification, poison, polymorphing, and stunning.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the avatar of consumption must hit a Huge or smaller opponent with its bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can try to swallow the foe the following round.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will- blindness/deafness (DC 37), control winds (DC 40), greater dispel magic, vampiric touch; 1/day- feeblemind (DC 40), plane shift (DC 40). The saving throws are Charisma-based.

Summon (Sp): The avatar of consumption is constantly eating holes in reality, and sometimes things are pulled through the resulting vacuum. Once every 5 rounds as a free action, the avatar of consumption summons 1d4 chaos beasts to its side (maximum 6 chaos beasts at any one time). They aid the avatar of consumption, and often end up its meals as well. An avatar of consumption will often bite and swallow the willing chaos beast, and devours it instantly if it does so. This restores the hungry vortex (44 hp per chaos beast) at the expense of its attack actions. Because the summoning is constant, the avatar of consumption always starts out with 6 chaos beast allies. Destroying the chaos beasts will prevent the avatar of consumption from repairing its shield.

Swallow Whole (Ex): The avatar of consumption can try to swallow a grabbed opponent of Huge or smaller size by making a successful grapple check. Once inside, the opponent takes 2d6+26 points of crushing damage plus 2d6+26 points of acid damage per round from the avatar of consumption's digestive juices. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by dealing 50 points of damage to the avatar of consumption’s digestive tract (AC 36). Once the creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out. The avatar of consumption’s gullet is an extradimensional space unto its own, and can potentially hold infinite creatures, provided it can swallow them. Each creature is held in its own stomach, and there is a 20% chance an escaping creature ends up cutting into another stomach instead of escaping.

Any damage done to swallowed creatures regenerates an equal amount of damage to its hungry vortex shield. By constantly eating, it keeps the shield constantly refreshed.

Realivore (Ex): The avatar of consumption devours reality itself. When killed, it immediately collapses in on itself, forming a vortex that draws in all surrounding matter in a 100 ft. radius. All creatures in the area must make a DC 47 Fortitude save or be drawn towards the center at 30 feet a round and be unable to move. If they are drawn into the center they must make another Fortitude save or be destroyed and scattered across the cosmos. The vortex lasts for 1 minute before it ends.

Rarely, an avatar of consumption will rampage across the world and get its fill. Then it will provoke this event on its own, devouring one last thing before going. It may provoke its own collapse as a full-round action.

Regeneration (Ex): The avatar of consumption's regeneration is bypassed by lawful good silver weapons and by effects which destroy matter into dust (such as disintegrate or the touch of a umbral blot. Even if you kill it, it only returns to the far realm where it may re-appear again in 1d100x10 years. Nothing is known which will keep it dead forever. The same thing occurs if ever imprisoned somewhere, eventually eating its way back to another plane.
