1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A bizarre weapon, the battle shears are a giant pair of scissors suitable for actual combat. As a one-handed weapon it is used much like a longsword, able to 1d8 (for medium creatures) and piercing or slashing damage. However, if used in two-hands you can choose a different stance with a handle in each hand. This use employs the scissor aspect (slashing only) but deals 2d8 damage instead of 1d8.

As a two-handed weapon, you can make grapple attempts (provoking as normal) with the weapon in hand, and gaining a +4 bonus on the touch attack. If you grapple with the battle shears you deal the battle shear damage every time you make a successful grapple check. In addition you can deal critical hit damage against any flexible rope-like object as a standard action.

If you have the appropriate Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat, on a confirmed natural 20 you can roll one more time to confirm. If you confirm again, you remove a limb of your choice (such as arms or legs, but not the head), dealing 1d4 Con damage and applying appropriate penalties for the lost limb. If the second confirmation was a natural 20, you can choose to remove the head instead.
