The humanoid figured lumbered forward, apparently decked out in various blankets, mantles, capes and cloth. If there is a person under the many layers and makeshift hood, you cannot tell. With outstretched arms it reaches out to envelop you in its quilts.

The blanket golem is a cuddly collection of warm comfortable blankets of all types, animated into humanoid form. They are typically created as a household servant, being masters of the self-making bed. They seem to have been imbued with a "friendly" spirit, giving them dog-like loyalty and intelligence, though ultimately it is still mindless. Some are too friendly, and like to give "hugs" that last too long, resulting in the comfortable death of those it consumes. As a result, they should be approached with caution, as they might decide their orders include "hugging" you.

A blanket golem is capable of "resting", falling prone into a random pile of blankets. This is merely its rest state, which often disturbs anyone who lays in the pile for comfort, only for the golem to stand up and envelop them. Blanket Golems stand at about 9 feet tall and weigh 400 lbs. They do not speak.

Combat[edit]

Blanket Golems employ its spell-like abilities to make subjects more amicable to its Snuggie ability. If it is incapable of doing this, it will move into melee, dealing nonlethal damage and attempting to hug its opponent and envelop them with its snuggie ability. Once it has one or more creatures inside, it will retreat until its "companions" perish from lack of food and drink, then absorb them into its mysterious core which supposedly leads to the demiplane of blankets.

Crush (Ex): This special attack allows a flying or jumping blanket golem to land on opponents as a standard action, using its whole body to crush them. It must fall from at least 5 ft. higher than the creature (thus it must drop from 10 ft. to effect a Medium creature aka a 5ft square). Crush attacks are effective only against opponents one or more size categories smaller than the golem (though it can attempt normal overrun or grapple attacks against larger opponents).

A crush attack affects as many creatures as can fit under the blanket golem’s body. Creatures in the affected area must succeed on a Reflex save DC 19 or be pinned, automatically taking bludgeoning damage during the next round unless the golem moves off them. If the golem chooses to maintain the pin, treat it as a normal grapple attack. Pinned opponents take damage from the crush each round if they don’t escape.

A crush attack deals the indicated damage plus 1½ times the golem’s Strength bonus (round down). The saving throw is Strength based.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a blanket golem must hit with a slam attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity.

Magic Immunity (Ex): A blanket golem is immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance. In addition, certain spells and effects function differently against the creature, as noted below.

A make whole spell heals the golem for 15 points of damage.

A sleep spell slows the golem (as the slow spell) for 1d6 rounds.

Snuggie (Su): If the blanket golem is grappling a creature, its next successful grapple attempt envelops the creature in its warm and comfortable body. No damage is dealt to the enveloped creature, but the blanket golem is no longer considered grappling and the victim cannot leave until it successfully beats the blanket golem's grapple check. Each round a creature spends enveloped inside it must make a Will save DC 15 or be filled with a sudden calm and comfort, without a care in the world. They stop fighting and cease resisting, though others can attempt to free their ally from the outside, and every day the creature gets another save to resist. It is a comfortable existance, but since life processes are not suspended the creature will eventually wither and die from starvation or thirst, a death they won't even notice. No one is certain what happens to the corpses, but they are not ejected. They seem to vanish into the theoretical "demiplane of blankets" next to the "dimension of lost socks". The golem can hold up to 1 Large creature, or 2 Medium, 4 Small, 8 Tiny, 16 Diminutive, or 32 Fine sized creatures inside of it at one time. The saving throw is Wisdom based, and this is a mind-affecting compulsion effect.

Soft Body (Ex): The blanket golem is snuggably soft. It is immune to bludgeoning damage and falling damage, and takes half damage from piercing weapons. It can (and by default does) deal nonlethal damage with its natural weapons without penalty.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will-calm emotions, endure elements; 3/day-suggestion. Unlike most spell-likes, these spell-like abilities are Wisdom based.

Skills: Blanket Golems recieve a +20 bonus on Disguise checks to look like common blankets when prone, and a +10 bonus on jump checks.

Construction[edit]

A blanket golem’s body is created from over 9000 blankets and quilts, woven with arcane runes on small patches upon them from alchemical tinctures and admixtures costing at least 700 gp. Assembling the body requires a DC 20 Craft (textiles) check or a DC 20 Craft (weaving) check.

CL 5th; Craft Construct, calm emotions, endure elements, sleep, caster must be at least 5th level; Price 3,000 gp; Cost 2,200 gp + 120 XP.
