Used by interrogators who want to scare suspects into confessions without actually killing them, or by those who don't want to let on that they're only dealing non-lethal damage, a Bloody Mercy Crystal appears to be every bit as lethal as the weapon normally would. Although it functions as the [[Merciful_Crystal_(3.5e_Equipment)|Merciful Crystal]], it causes attacks to deal illusory wounds appropriate to the weapon being used. Victims knocked unconscious by a weapon with this crystal appear to be dead unless a DC 15 Heal check is made. The illusion lasts for 10 minutes. 

If using a weapon with this crystal to attempt a [[SRD:Coup_de_Grace|coup de grace]] against a helpless opponent, the normal Fortitude save becomes a Will save against the illusion. On a failed save, the opponent becomes unconscious regardless of current HP, and on a successful save, the opponent takes only half damage from the attempt, and is immune to the illusion effect of this crystal for 24 hours.
