Bone Shaper

Nature is a constant cycle of life, death, and rebirth. After death, the bodies left behind by these deaths eventually return to the dust they were born of. But there are some who excel at the use of these remains in crafting. They use monster parts of all kinds to create and augment equipment of incredible quality, and use the weapons and armor made in this manner with deadly efficiency.

Making a Bone Shaper

Craftsmen who specialize in using monster parts to create weapons and armor, Bone Shapers use their creations in combat with incredible effectiveness. They can fill any weapon or armor-focused role, whether it be melee dps, ranged dps, or even tanks.

Abilities: Bone Shapers rely on their Intelligence score for the strength of their bone shaping, and rely on a good Constitution score to increase their hit points. Since they can use their crafting skills to make a multitude of weapons, they could benefit from either a high Strength or a high Dexterity for improving their combat prowess.

Races: Any race can become a Bone Shaper, but races with close ties to nature are far more likely to do so.

Alignment: Any.

Starting Gold: 4d6×10 gp.

Starting Age: As fighter.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Bone Shaper.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Proficient with all simple and martial weapons, and with all armor and shields. A Bone Shaper cannot use weapons, armor, or shields made out of metal, due to their close ties to nature.

Bone Shaping (Ex): At 1st level, a Bone Shaper's prowess using bones and other monster parts to create equipment manifests in the form of Bone Shaping. To do so, they must pas a Craft (bone shaping) skill check (DC of this check is 10+the total level of the parts being used). At 1st level, a Bone Shaper can use bones, chitin, feathers, and furs in their equipment creation.

At 2nd level, A Bone Shaper can use claws, talons, and fangs in their equipment creation. Poisons can now be added as well, whether they are from a poison sac of a monster, or made in a vial.

At 4th level, a Bone Shaper can use skulls and spines in their equipment creation.

At 5th level, a Bone Shaper can add oozes, slimes, and various forms of mucus, extracted from a monster, to the equipment they create.

At 8th level, a Bone Shaper can use Scales in their equipment creation.

Bonus Feats (Ex): The Bone Shaper gains a bonus feat at 2nd level and every two Bone Shaper levels thereafter (4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 20th). These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as fighter bonus feats or item creation feats. A Bone Shaper must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums. His Bone Shaper level counts as his caster level for the purpose of taking item creation feats.

Hardened Bones (Ex): At 4th level, a Bone Shaper's equipment that they create are considered masterwork, regardless of their craft check. They must still pass the check required to create the item. The masterwork bonus is a +1 at 4th level, and increases by +1 for every 4 levels beyond 4th, to a maximum of +5 at 20th level.

Cost Effective (Su): At 8th level, a Bone Shaper no longer needs to pay the full cost beyond the base material cost to create or enchant their bone equipment. It only costs them half the gold cost to enchant their bone equipment.

At 15th level, the Bone Shaper no longer needs to pay any of the gold cost required to enchant their own bone equipment.

Bone Artifact (Su): At 20th level, a Bone Shaper gains the Craft Artifact feat, using half of their Bone Shaper level as their Divine Rank. You can only use this ability to create weapons, armor, shields, and tools, and you must have the material components required to create the artifact, though you may use bones and other monster parts in place of any metal required.
