This will surely be a skeleTON of fun! Don't get boned over!

Perhaps the result of a failed animate dead attempt making a skeleton, or an intentional production attempting to make skeletons out of each and every individual bone in the body, but the boneswarm is a disassembled pile of one or more skeletons that have been animated. Skulls, fingerbones, ribcages, and funnybones fly around in a tornado-like swirl at high speed, bludgeoning and slashing their target to death before devouring the subject's skeleton to increase its own mass. Victims of a boneswarm are found deflated and gelatinous without any interior structure to support them.

Combat[edit]

Boneswarms are as mindless as the skeletons they are made of, and are direct in their attacks against the living. Sometimes, boneswarms can be found peacefully "living" inside of the torsos of normal skeletons, protecting their hosts.

Distraction (Ex): Any living creature that begins its turn with a boneswarm in its space must succeed on a DC 16 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based, with a +2 bonus from its Ability Focus.

Eat Skeleton (Ex): When attacking a creature or object made of bone, it automatically bypasses DR and hardness. Any damage it deals to these objects are absorbed as healing for the swarm.

If a boneswarm consumes four human skeletons worth of bones, it increases a hit die. At 18 HD it falls apart into two 9 HD boneswarms instead.
