Upon manifesting this power, you use your psionic powers to invade the mind of your target, shutting down its higher brain functions and gaining access to its thoughts. On a failed saving throw, the target of this power becomes [[SRD:Dazed|dazed]] for the duration of this power, and you may read its mind as per [[SRD:Read Thoughts|''read thoughts'']]. As a swift action, you may also read its memories as per [[SRD:Mind Probe|''mind probe'']], granting saving throws as normal.

Alternatively, as a standard action you may end this power by attempting to shut down vital parts of the brain. The target is granted a [[Fortitude]] save against having a severe cerebral malfunction which renders it [[SRD:Unconscious|unconscious]] and kills it within 3 rounds. Only [[SRD:Regenerate|''regenerate'']], [[SRD:Restoration|''restoration'']], or similar effects may save the creature before it expires, and even then, it will stay [[SRD:Unconscious|unconscious]] for 1 hour per manifester level.</onlyinclude>
