Burmecians

A race of noble Rat people from a land of eternal rain

Personality

Burmecians are amiable and hard working, and have a proud noble heritage of enduring several devastating wars and defeating the worst of dragons. They can become very haughty because their history, but they are typically a friendly courteous people. They all have a deep reverence for Dragons, particularly good dragons.

Physical Description

The typical Burmecian is tall, lithe, and very light on their feet. Adults stand 5-6 feet tall and weigh little more than 100 pounds. Physically can be summed up as anthropomorphic rats; they are covered in a short coat of slick fur ranging from brown to gray to silver (despite having fur they still have hair), they have rat-like muzzles and tall furry ears that sit atop their heads, giving their faces a triangular look. They possess powerful legs with inverted knees and large feet ending in digigrade toes that are ideal for leaping great distances and absorbing the impact of landing.

Relations

Burmecians get along with all races, but none better and worse than Humans. Many of the wars they were involved with had Humans on both supporting and opposing sides. They do tend to be hesitant to trust Half-orcs due to their barbaric heritage. Their reverence for dragons sometimes puts them at odds with Dwarves.

Some Human-Burmecian relations have spawned 'Half-Burmecians' which appear as Humans with Burmercian features; rat ears and tails (though more Burmercian traits are not unheard of). They usually are accepted in Burmecian society, but are typically pitied.

Those inclined against Burmecians use derogatory slurs such as 'ratfaces' and 'cheese eaters.' Those who have never seen a Burmecian could easily mistake one for a Wererat.

Alignment

Burmecians are a race that's had to come together countless times to fend off impossible odds and face amazing circumstances, this as fostered a need to work together. Honor and charity are among the highest virtues in Burmecian society. Most favor good and lawful alignments. Lands

Burmecia lies in a land of mist, and is shrouded in eternal rain. Its still under reconstruction, but it is clear it will be prospering within several more years. Burmecia is a walled, multi-leveled, and warren-like city built around the king's palace and showered by constant rain.

Religion

Traditionally, Burmecia had no central racial deities. Instead they venerated their ancestors, legendary heroes, and dragons. Refugees that had returned from human civilizations converted to their gods. Obad-Hai, Kord, and Heironeous being the cheif among them, but the most popular among the outside world's deities is Bahamut, the god of metallic dragons.

Clerics of the old faith maintain shrines to the great men and women of the past, and protect their crypts even if they have been smashed to rubble. Domains associated with the old faith include: Good, Law, Protection, and War(Lance)
