In the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy role-playing game, most commonly the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, the Pterafolk[1] are a race of humanoid pterosaur-like creatures, who have a magical ability to turns their wings into arms and back again when they wish.

Pterafolk live in largely-inhospitable regions of Chult. They are a savage, tribal race, created by the sarrukh to serve as warriors, but their intractable nature proved too volatile for that role.

Footnotes

  1. In AD&D 2nd edition, the race was known as Pteramen, the suffix was changed into -folk with the advent of 3rd edition, to coincide with other changes away from sex-specific monster names, e.g. lizardfolk and mongrelfolk.
