Great iron worms burrowed through the terrain, leaving vast tunnels as they flew their cargo back to their mysterious creators.

Creations of the EVE Foundation, their growth generated a great need for raw materials. It is here where the centipedes filled their role as automated miner and transportation vehicle. Composed of a "core unit" with grinders for a mouth and 3D printers, and "link" units which store materials in their swollen underbellies, these machines superficially resemble centipedes. Their stumpy legs serve as support, but they usually move through the air thanks to a spine composed of energized suspendium and ion vents along its body. These entities are designed to be autonomous and collect and return to base at their own violation, printing more and more links for storage purposes as needed. The typical "train" is composed of 10 links, to a maximum of 12 per train.

Centipedes are about the dimensions of a truck, though they seem much larger with legs fully exposed and extended. Their weights are highly variable, partly due to most of being cargo space and part in due to their anti-gravitational materials. Centipedes are considered huge quadrupeds for the purpose of carrying capacity. This means that each individual unit has a capacity of the following: Light 1840 lbs or less; Medium 1841-3680 lbs; Heavy 3681-5520 lbs. They can fly even in medium or heavy loads at reduced speeds.

Combat

Centipedes are not made for combat, but their valuable cargo does put them in danger. If they cannot simply outrun it, the grinding mouth of the core unit works as a suitable weapon in a pinch. Some are even weaponized with a shock emitter that serves both offensive and defensive purpose.

While not foolproof, centipedes with additional links effectively add more hp to the unit making it tougher, though no more effective in battle. Breaking links near the head is effective in removing its ability to redirect damage elsewhere before it reconnects to the mass.

Create Link: Over the course of 8 hours of "rest" a all-terrain miner core unit can print out a new link unit, materials provided. It usually performs this act to replace badly damaged links, or expand its capabilities.

Damage Link (Ex): So long as a all-terrain miner core unit has links in its body, it can transfer damage to any one link in its form as if under shield other with it. It can pick a new link with every attack. Conversely if the core unit is repaired (such as by its rapid healing) it can transfer up to half its healing to any one link.

Detect Mineral (Sp): At will- detect mineral. Its caster level is equal to its HD.

Environmental Resistance (Ex): While not armored, the body of the all-terrain miner core units and links are hardened to the elements. They reduce all damage from environmental effects by 10 as if by damage reduction or energy resistance. This includes falling damage, but not damage from a fireball.

Link Train: Links are slow, plodding, and mindless on their own. Unless commanded otherwise they idle in place or seek to rejoin the last core unit they were associated with. As a full round action that provokes attacks of opportunity they can link up to a all-terrain miner core unit (or its subsequent links) and form a "train", gaining its movement abilities and locked into following the core units every move. As long as the links are not overburdened, the all-terrain miner as a whole is not overburdened.

Mining (Ex): Core units differ from links in that the majority of their body is dedicated to mining and processing rather than storage, and the front of their bodies are tipped with dual gnashing grinders with four mandibles for gripping. While it can burrow through soft materials, when "mining" it hooks on and actively grinds and devours the material it is displacing. It can mine through any material of hardness 15 or less, or harder materials smaller than itself (so a small chunk of adamantine merely passes through) and store these materials as ingots or gravel suspended in a rubbery gel. When mining, it moves at a speed of 15 ft - the hardness of the material every 10 minutes. Treat this as mining beam for the purposes of materials gathered from its mining attempts.

Programming: The all-terrain miner possesses the following programs: Calculate, Collect, Identify Object, Reposition, Search, Self-Preservation, and Sort.

Rapid Healing (Ex): As long as the all-terrain miner is "well fed", it can automatically repair itself with its own gathered materials. It recovers 10 hp every hour, which can be transferred via damage link.

Shock Emitter (Su): Some rare all-terrain miner units are weaponized, often for protection against those who would pirate its stored materials. These all-terrain miners have a shock emitter on its core unit, able to fire rays of electricity out to 120 ft with a ranged touch attack. On any round it does not fire its shock emitter, it can instead choose to electrify its surroundings as a free action until the start of its next turn. Any creature ending their turn within the all-terrain miner's reach is subject to the shock emitter, once per creature per round. This also applies to any links within the all-terrain miner. Links separated from the core unit still possess this ability, though they cannot actively attack with it. As long as the passive shock emitter effect is up, it benefits from Deflect Arrows against any metallic or magnetically-affected projectile.
