An unnatural storm was brewing, the sky thundering and wind blowing harshly. At its heart rose a great banner which was a portent of approaching doom.

A semi-unique creature which seems to be the form of a massive flagbird clothling, it is born of regal purple and marked with strange sigils and engrams whose meaning is long lost. Its appearance is a herald of greater disasters to come and it only seems to serve to bring atmospheric disasters onto the environment and any civilizations within its reach. Using its control weather ability it converts anywhere it flies into storm letting the wrath of nature do its work, and driving any flagbirds in the area feral, vicious, and wild. It may be the source of those strange creatures, or perhaps it is the other way around and the presence of too many flagbirds births the stormbird into the world. All that is known that there is only one at a time, and when the stormbird is defeated it will eventually rise again from the desert when the stars are right.

The stormbird is wrapped in eternal storm and its form crackles with electricity. Great ever-changing runes cross its body, and it seems to have enough intellect to identify threats to its path of destruction, intentionally moving to remove such roadblocks. Given enough times its wrath will end and the stormbird will vanish to wherever it had been conjured from.

Combat

The storm is the stormbird's greatest defense, disrupting efforts to take it down rightfully with ranged weapons. A means of stopping or surviving the storm is needed and even then its defenses are great. It will use call lightning and call lightning storm for both offense and healing, and keep its protective layer of flagbirds around it when tactically sound to do so. Fortunately for most if the winds do not threaten opponents most of its attacks can only inflict nonlethal damage.

The stormbird does not have the kaiju's "Mighty Steps" ability, being too thin and light. However it can always hover in place regardless of flight maneuverability.

Absorb Electricity (Ex): The stormbird is not merely immune to electricity, but actually absorbs it. For every 3 points of damage it would have taken from an electrical attack it instead heals 1 point of damage. Within a storm environment regular lightning strikes grant it effectively fast healing 5.

Blinding (Ex): The stormbird can grapple an opponent up to three sizes larger than itself. The object makes a normal grapple check. If it wins, it wraps itself around the opponent’s head, causing that creature to be blinded until removed. For creatures smaller than it, it typically employs Crush instead.

Constrict (Ex): The stormbird deals damage equal to its slap damage value plus 1- 1/2 times its Strength bonus with a successful grapple check against a creature up to one size larger than itself.

Crush (Ex): This special attack allows a flying or jumping stormbird to land on opponents as a standard action, using its whole body to crush them. Crush attacks are effective only against opponents three or more size categories smaller than the dragon (though it can attempt normal overrun or grapple attacks against larger opponents).

A crush attack affects as many creatures as can fit under the stormbird’s body. Creatures in the affected area must succeed on a Reflex save (DC 24) or be pinned, automatically taking nonlethal bludgeoning damage and subjecting them to Blinding during the next round unless the stormbird moves off them. If the stormbird chooses to maintain the pin, treat it as a normal grapple attack. Pinned opponents take damage from the crush each round if they don’t escape.

A crush attack deals the indicated damage plus 1-1/2 times the stormbird’s Strength bonus (round down). The save DC is Wisdom based.

Ego: Clothlings have a strange sense of self imbued within them even if they lack intellect. For the purpose of their instinctive behavior and cunning, their Charisma is a stand in for their Intelligence score. They can also obtain tricks as if they were animals. Of course the stormbird is largely a beast of destruction and chaos, more of a living natural disaster than anything. The stormbird cannot be tamed or trained.

Flagform (Ex): Clothlings are made of fabric, and as such are immune to bludgeoning damage. In addition they may "mount" themselves onto surfaces such as the edge of a building or a pole and drape like a flag. When doing so their runes fade and they can pass for a normal flag with a +20 bonus to the Disguise check as long as they remain immobile. Of course with the stormbird's immense size it can rarely blend in as a normal flag, and is often splayed and draping off peaks and rooftops.

Flutterswarm (Ex): The stormbird can command flagbird clothlings out to 2 miles, and around its immediate self an endless swarm of flagbirds arrives to protect and guard their commander. The great swarm provides concealment to the stormbird at distances greater than 20%, and creatures within 20 ft must make a DC 24 Reflex save each round or have a 50% miss chance for 1 round from flagbirds flying in their face. The Reflex save is Wisdom based. In addition the swarm provides the stormbird's Wisdom bonus as a deflection bonus to AC.

The swarm can be targeted (treat as having swarm traits and immunities, and immunity to bludgeoning), and takes damage from area effects. There are 110 hp of flagbirds in the area before the swarm is gone. The stormbird can resummon or refill its flutterswarm with its Thunderous Shout ability.

Immunities (Ex): The stormbird is immune to bludgeoning damage, [Air] spells and effects, and absorbs electricity. It is immune to all ability damage, ability drain, critical hits and sneak attacks, death effects, disease, energy drain, exhaustion, fatigue, mind-affecting effects, necromancy effects, nonlethal damage, paralysis, petrification, poison, polymorphing, sleep, and stunning. It is immune to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects, or is harmless). They are also immune to death by massive damage.

Living Terrain (Ex): As a kaiju creature, the stormbird is practically walking terrain. Creatures three sizes or smaller can make special grapple attempt against the kaiju with the DC being 10 + the kaiju's Dexterity modifier - the kaiju's size modifier (DC 7).

The attacker is considered grappled, but not the kaiju, and they may scale or walk along its body as if difficult terrain. The attacker gains cover against the kaiju, but at any time the kaiju may make a move action to shake off any crawling attackers. The opposed grapple, balance check, or climb check to remain attached is d20 + the kaiju's Strength modifier + the kaiju's size modifier (+24).

Small Arms Resistance (Ex): The stormbird takes half damage from magical and physical attacks and is not subject to critical hits or sneak attacks. Siege weapons deal full damage and can do critical hits and sneak attacks, as do certain special attacks listed in the creature entry. Its small arms immunity can be disabled for 1 round any round it has taken slashing damage from any siege weapon.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will- control weather, gust of wind, sound burst; 3/day-call lightning, control winds, sleet storm; 1/day-call lightning storm, freedom of movement. Caster level 15th, the DCs are Wisdom based.

Storm Blast (Su): The stormbird can project either a blast of lightning or a powerful gale of wind out as a standard action. The lightning blast is a ranged touch attack out to 120 ft, dealing 5d8 electricity damage to a single target. Alternatively it can project a line of wind out to 240 ft which duplicates gust of wind and also deals 5d6 nonlethal sonic damage, with a successful save dealing half damage.

Stormborn (Ex): Unlike their lesser kin, the stormbird is a natural in the air no matter the environment. It is unaffected by wind effects and wind speeds, natural or otherwise. It can also see through all weather effects, clouds, and fogs without penalty. It grants this ability to all flagbirds clothlings within 2 miles of itself, as well as establishing a telepathic connection to all flagbirds and exhibiting control over them. Animal companions, familiars, and similar creatures are immune to this influence through they do possess the telepathic link. In addition to ignoring wind effects they can choose to be immune to any [Air] effect and are immune to falling damage.

Thundering Shout (Su): The stormbird can release a deafening cry as a full round action, dealing 1d10 sonic damage to all non-clothling creatures within 20 ft centered on it, no save. In addition all creatures within 40 ft are subject to a bull rush attempt as the shockwave carries them away. Those who have been pushed by the shockwave must make a DC 24 Reflex save or fall prone at the end of their movement. This thunderous chiming can be heard for miles and blows away all clouds briefly, suppressing all current weather effects for 1 round. The sound lasts for an entire round (and those approaching the area are subject to bull rushes on their turns), after which the flagbird is dazed for 1 round.

A thundering shout is used to summon more flagbird clothlings to its cause (see Flutterswarm). It refills the flutterswarm to its maximum after the end of the dazing.
