This eyepatch has a frightening visage on the inside of its cover.  When donned, it grants the wearer 5 [[SRD:Energy Drain|negative levels]]. These cannot be removed, but never cause actual level loss. The eyepatch can be removed, but for those who persist, the benefits are great.  After 5 consecutive days of wearing the eyepatch, it has completed building up a charge.    

When removed, the user surges with power for the next 5 minutes, his normal levels returning the penalties for the negative levels invert.  Specifically, the user gains a +5 bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, ability checks; 25 temporary hit points; and +5 to effective level (for determining the power, duration, effective HD, and other details of spells or special abilities).

If removed prematurely, the energy is not lost completely, but 1 day is subtracted from its total for every day it is not worn, until it reaches zero, starting with -1 for taking it off.
