Your holy symbol is warm to the touch.  As part of casting and as a standard action any time during its duration you can press your holy symbol against a creature as a touch attack causing its temperature to rise and deal fire damage equal to 1d6 +1 point per caster level (maximum +5).  It cannot be thrown, but it visibly marks the creature with your brand until the creature heals 10 or more points of damage (or reaches full hp).  Each attack you make reduces the remaining duration by 1 minute. If an attack reduces the remaining duration to 0 minutes or less, the spell ends after the attack resolves.  It does not function against objects or shed any significant light.

It deals twice as much damage against undead, and against creatures with an opposing alignment subtype.  When you cast this spell it takes on one or more of your alignment traits (chaos, evil, good, or lawful).  Paladins can channel this spell through their weapon, making a normal melee attack and adding the damage of this spell on a successful hit.
