An ordinary dragonflesh grafter is a hulking monstrosity that slowly looses its original personality. Dragonbone ingesters have taken to ingesting powdered dragonbone (as part of a magical ritual) in an attempt to avoid the worst side-effects of dragonflesh grafting while still gaining benefit from it. While the practice is far from safe, it results in a more stable mutation than the standard dragonflesh grafting.
One of the downsides to this method is that the powdered dragonbone is addictive. The ritual must be repeated once a year or the ingester will have an uncontrollable desire to become one with a dragon by finding one and offer itself as a meal to it. And worse, the more times the ingester repeats the ritual, the more often it will need to be performed. If an ingester lives long enough, it will need to perform the ritual daily.
