Dreamtouched Human[edit]

Dreamtouched humans are planarblooded humans, akin to aasimar and tieflings, but ones who share a heritage from the plane of dreams. They are usually born to single mothers to mysterious beings that cannot be found, or simply seem to pop up as orphans with no parents known. This is because one of their parents inevitably doesn't really exist, and thus in part neither do they. Always dancing between the real and unreal, they are epithermal beings not quite connected to reality, making them supreme surreal artists, writers, and creative types but also prone to madness.

Dreamtouched humans appear as normal humans but with one or more oddities which seem fanciful or illogical. Often this is a quirk of hair, eye, or skin color but also may come in the form of deformities such as arms too long, eyes too big, or multiple voices at once. These traits can be fascinating as they are horrifying.

Racial Traits[edit]

  • +2 to any attribute: Dreamtouched humans are as varied as humanity themselves.
  • Humanoid (Dreamtouched, Human): They are part dream and part human.
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, a dreamtouched human has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
  • Dreamtouched Human base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Dream Reader (Su): With a touch against a sleeping creature, the creature can make a DC 10 + 1/2 HD + Charisma modifier Will save or have its dreams revealed to the dreamtouched human. The dreamtouched human can ask a single question, and the question is answered truthfully to the best of the creature's knowledge limited to one or two sentences. Regardless if the save is successful, the creature immune to further attempts for 24 hours.
  • Minor Shift (Su): While not enough to provide any sort of disguise on its own, the dreamtouched human can perform all sorts of minor alterations to themselves at will, no stronger than prestidigitation such as altering the hue of their hair, with new changes overwriting the old. If used as part of a disguise, it provides a +1 circumstance bonus.
  • Semi-Dream Traits (Ex): While they are considered native to both the material and dream plane, they lack the full measure of dreamborn ability. They do not benefit from the dreamborn's miss chance, but may engage in a stance to shift themselves out of reality. Whenever they take total defense, they benefit from the 20% miss chance for 1 round. They can also choose to enter this state as a non-action whenever they fall unconscious or go to sleep, in which case they benefit from it until they are brought back to consciousness.
  • Sleepwalker (Ex): While a dreamtouched human still needs to sleep, the difference between sleep and awake is thin. They cannot take action while asleep, but they are not helpless and in fact can remain standing with their eyes open, and even speak (though any interactions are usually nonsense and gibberish if they are dreaming, or nothing if merely in slumber). When falling asleep willingly, the dreamtouched human can set themselves up to do one task autonomously during their rest with a contingency (as per contingency). The task must be within the capabilities of an unseen servant with your ability scores and is thus usually simple. This makes some believe that dreamtouched do not sleep, but this is not true.
  • Unreal Interaction (Ex): The unreal is slightly more real to the dreamtouched. They take a -2 penalty on [Illusion] effects, but gain a +1 bonus on DCs with [Illusion] effects.
  • Automatic Languages: Common
  • Bonus Languages: Any (excluding secret languages)
  • Favored Class: Bard
  • Level Adjustment: +0
  • Effective Character Level: 1
