  1. If the character has some help, cut this time in half. A single character doing nothing else can help one or two adjacent characters. Two characters can't help each other don armor at the same time.

Lond was a wealthy kingdom ruled by a benevolent king named Thrunvald IV. Unbeknownst to the people of the kingdom, King Thrunvald's court had been infiltrated by a vampire lord during the early years of his rule. Within the next decade, every noble in the kingdom had been turned into vampires or killed, and Thrunvald himself was sired as well, becoming an ageless puppet king to the newly redubbed nation of Dredmoor. During the century that followed, millions of people died in atrocious necromantic rituals, while millions more fled to neighboring kingdoms as refugees. Dredmoor became a kingdom of the Undead, perpetually shrouded in a thick unnatural overcast, where beings of the night could safely walk the streets.

While the upper-class denizens of Dredmoor had little reason to venture into lands where the sun shone, the threat of invasion by the surrounding human kingdoms led to the development of specialized armors that could protect undead from the natural forces they detest. Dredmoor armor is a full-body protection consisting of a beautifully embossed breast-and-back, greaves, bracers and gauntlets, with leather underlays and a cowled helm and cloak. Said to exude a 'terrible beauty', Dredmoor armor is expertly fashioned from blacksteel and nighthide and counts as both armor and cloak for the latter. Dredmoor armor incorporates the benefits of both materials. Long exposure to undead left the armor permeated with negative energy. Dredmoor armor is always masterwork; price and benefits are subsumed in the above statistics.

Dredmoor armor grants the following benefits when worn, on top of its general protective capabilities:

  • Any undead creature or other creatures healed by negative energy gains rapid healing 5. Living creatures or other creatures healed by positive energy become sickened and cannot recover hit points naturally until the armor is removed.
  • Instead of falling, you can glide up to 10 feet per HD and/or character level you possess. While gliding, your altitude reduces by 5 feet for every 20 feet you move horizontally. This effect is an extension of the benefits from a nighthide cloak; gliding still counts as falling, and the distance that you glide counts towards the amount of falling distance you can negate. As such, if you reach the end of the distance you can glide or fall safely and are still in the air, you will fall the rest of the way down as normal.
  • You gain +2 turn resistance and if you are capable of rebuking or commanding undead, you count as two caster levels higher when you do so.
  • You do not incur any penalties for being vulnerable to light while wearing the armor. If you are mortally baned by daylight (such as by being a vampire) you are merely staggered while directly exposed to the sun.

Craft (metalworking and leatherworking) DC 35. Creator must be undead or capable of channeling negative energy. Market Price 5,000 gp.
