Extra DigitEdit

These objects look like a pair of translucent leeches about 4 inches in length. When placed against an appendage of a living creature they will adhere to the skin, taking on the color, scales, fur, or even chitinous plating of the creature, blending in perfectly and acting as an opposable thumb. For example, if the appendage has claws on its other digits, the Extra Digit will grow an identical claw. This allows creatures without normal hands to use their paws, tentacles, etc., to manipulate objects, hold items, and wield weapons as though they had normal hands. The thumbs do not interfere with the creature's normal movement modes if the creature's "hands" are normally used for movement (such as a quadruped's front paws). However, holding an item in an appendage needed for movement reduces their speed to 1/4 it's normal movement.

Extra digits can be placed on appendages that already have an opposable thumb, giving them a second opposable thumb. Doing so gives them a +2 circumstance bonus on Climb, Crafting, Disable Device, Escape Artist and Sleight of Hand checks, as well as a +1 circumstance bonus to oppose a disarm attempt.

Each extra digit may be applied or removed as a move-equivalent action with the use of a command word. If the creature changes shape, the opposable thumb changes shape to fit the new creature so long as the new form has appendages.

Only one extra digit may be placed on an appendage. The price given here is for a pair of extra digits.

Moderate Transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, Girallon's Blessing; Price 1,000 gp.
