Favored Summon [Metamagic] Prerequisites: Ability to summon creatures via a Conjuration (summoning) spell, Augment Summoning.Benefit: When summoning using the Summon Monster or Summon Nature's Ally spells you summon only one creature of the selected type. In addition to the benefits of Augment Summoning it gains the special abilities of a wizard's familiar, using the summoner's levels in the appropriate casting class as their master level. The favored summon's attitude is made helpful for the duration. The favored summons creature is considered a familiar for all spells, feats and class abilities that further enhance familiars. The summoning spell's duration is increased to 1 hour per caster level, with a maximum of 24 hours. The summoning of a creature with this feat does not interfere with normal familiars at all.

When the summoner reaches caster level 5th, their favored summons are constantly under the effect of a status spell.

When the summoner reaches caster level 10th, their favored summons are under the effect of lesser telepathic bond.

Finally, at caster level 15th, the favored summons gain the effect of greater status. Example: Malfoyle, a 7th level wizard, casts Summon Monster III spell to summon a fiendish large viper. The viper gains Alertness, Improved Evasion, may share spells, has an empathic link to the summoner, can deliver touch spells, can speak with the summoner as well as other animals of its kind, and is under the effect of a status spell.

A favored summon spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.Normal: Your summoned creatures are not this awesome.Special: The summoner must have previously summoned a creature of this type before. The caster may only have one favored summon in effect at a time.
