|benefit=Choose a creature you are capable of summoning. Each time it is summoned, the creature gains the special abilities of a [[SRD:Familiars|wizard's familiar]], using the summoner's levels in the appropriate casting class as their master level. The favored summon does not gain any of the adjustments to it's basic statistics. The summoning spell's duration is doubled for your favored summon, which stacks with other duration-enhancing effects such as the Extend Spell metamagic feat. 

When the summoner reaches caster level 5th, their favored summons are constantly under the effect of a ''[[SRD:Status|status]] spell''. 

When the summoner reaches caster level 10th, their favored summons are under the effect of ''[[SRD:Lesser_Telepathic_Bond|lesser telepathic bond]]''. 

Finally, at caster level 15th, the favored summons gain the effect of ''[[SRD:Greater_Status|greater status]]''.
|example=Malfoyle, a 7th level wizard, casts Summon Monster III spell to summon a fiendish large viper, his favored summon. The viper gains Alertness, Improved Evasion, may share spells, has an empathic link to the summoner, can deliver touch spells, can speak with the summoner as well as other animals of its kind, and is under the effect of a status spell.
