3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

The gigas spear is a heavy, masterwork longspear that harkens back to ancient times where the spear was used to hunt and bring down powerful prey. The head of the spear is a 24-inch double-edged blade. A sturdy crossguard at the base of the spear's head serves to keep the spear from being thrust too deep into the body of an enemy. The haft is made of tempered steel (if not made with another more expensive material), with a telescoping mechanism that allows for the wielder to combat adjacent enemies with as much ease as enemies further back. As it is not balanced for flight, it cannot be thrown.

The gigas spear requires Str 15 to wield in the first place, with a -2 penalty on attack rolls. At Str 19, the penalty to attack rolls vanishes. Those proficient with the gigas spear can make the following special attacks:

Telescoping Haft: As an immediate action, you can alter the length of the gigas spear. In it's shorter form, you threaten squares within your normal reach. In it's longer form you gain a 10' reach, but do not threaten adjacent squares.

Reaper's Arc: As a full attack action you swing the gigas spear in a vicious 180° degree slice. Make a separate attack roll against each opponent at a -2 penalty, and apply your strength bonus to damage instead of the normal one and a half times granted by wielding a two-handed weapon. Apply extra damage from other sources such as Power Attack normally to each opponent struck.

Sabot Thrust: This maneuver requires the gigas spear to be in it's shorter form. As a full attack action you may make a single attack against an adjacent opponent, thrusting powerfully forward while simultaneously triggering the telescoping mechanism. The resulting strike penetrates and bypasses an amount of your opponent's armor bonus or natural armor bonus equal to your BAB + the gigas spear's enhancement bonus (always at least +1 due to the masterwork bonus). If the attack is successful you may add double your strength bonus to the damage roll instead of the normal one and a half times. Additionally, your target must make a Fortitude save with a DC equal to 10 + ½ your HD + your Strength modifier or be pushed 5 feet away from you by the telescoping action of the spear. If the opponent cannot be pushed back due to an occupied space, the thrust deals additional damage equal to your Strength modifier. The single-minded focus required for this maneuver bestows a -2 to your AC until the start of your next turn.

Special: This maneuver may also be performed at the end of a charge. The penalty to AC from charging stacks with the penalty from this maneuver.

Pinning Strike: This maneuver requires the gigas spear to be in it's longer form. As a standard action you may make a single attack against an opponent. If the attack deals at least 15 points of damage you may immediately make a grapple check against the opponent. If you are successful, you lodge the head of the spear in your opponent's body and your opponent is considered grappled. You do not move into the target's space, nor can your opponent attack you (though he may elect to attack your gigas spear). You are considered to be grappling as well, though you do not lose your dexterity bonus to your AC. You may pull your spear free and end the grapple as a free action.
