The King's Glaive is an elite group of rogue-ish fighters who specialize in a teleporting maneuver called Warp Strike. These people gain their power from a royal line of magical kings, these are among the most elite strike forces in the world able to wield magic as well as hold themselves up in battle.

Becoming a Glaive

Normally taken by Rogues this class requires a great bit of dexterity and intelegence.

Entry Requirements
Alignment: Any non-evil.
Base Attack Bonus: +6
Race: Any Non-Monstrous Humanoid.
Skills: 10 ranks in Tumble.
Feats: Two Weapon Fighting, Point Blank Shot.
Spellcasting: Able to cast 1st level Arcane Spells.
Special Abilities: Sneak Attack

Proficiencies: Glaives are proficient in light and medium armor, simple and martial weapons and they treat kukri as a light weapon.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Glaive.

(Ex): Sneak Attack: At 1st, 5th, and 9th level a Glaive gets an additional d6 of sneak attack dice.

(Su): Warp Strike: As a standard action a Glaive may throw any light melee weapon or Kukri as a single ranged attack (using their full ranged attack bonus) that also consumes their movement action, upon a hit the Glaive teleports (As Dimension Door) instantly to his thrown weapon and is not able make another Warp Strike for 1d4 rounds. If the attack misses the weapon lands 1d4 squares away from the target and the Glaive teleports to it. Warp strike is a single attack using the movement and standard actions. A five foot step may not be used in the same round as the Warp Strike ability. At 1st 4th 7th and 10th level a Glaive gains a new rage maximum to his Warp Strike.
Pathfinder Variant: If using Pathfinder, Warp Strike may only be used a number of times per day equal to (2 + Int Mod)

Glaive Spellcasting: A Glaive may cast any orisons, but 1st level and higher spells must have the subtype of fire, cold, electricity or be from the Travel domain.


Elemental Strike: At 8th level a Glaive may change the damage type of his warp strike attack to either fire, cold, or electricity and add an additional 2d6 damage.

Warp Strike Mastery: At 10th level once a Glaive makes a successful Warp Strike he/she may make either a blitz or a full attack.

Epic Warp Strike Mastery: At 20th level a Glaive may use any one handed martial weapon in accordance with Warp Strike.



Bonus Feats: Endurance, Spring Attack, Bounding Assault, Rapid Blitz.

The epic Glaive gains a bonus feat (selected from the list of epic Glaive feats) every 4 levels after the 10th.

Epic Glaive Bonus Feat List: Dexterous Will, Dexterous Fortitude, Improved Sneak Attack, Improved Combat Casting, Improved Spell Capacity, Sneak Attack Of Opportunity, Spontaneous Spell, Spell Knowledge, Superior Initiative, Tenacious Magic, Uncanny Accuracy.


Glaive Oath

I pledge to serve faithfully within the King's Glaive,
To carry out missions regularly,
Participate actively in training,
Obey my officers,
Wear my uniform properly,
And advance my education and training rapidly to be of service to my King and Nation.

I -state name- accept the duties and responsibility of the King's Glaive, until my release, or last strike.

Ex-Glaive

Upon violating the Glaive's Oath or upon being released from the order a Glaive loses the Warp Strike ability, Warp Strike Mastery, and all spellcasting awarded from the Glaive class.

If a Glaive commits a heinous or treasonous crime, his sentence is death.

Playing a Glaive

Combat: Glaives move in and out of combat quickly, not trying to be stealthy, but to catch their opponents flat on their feet. Jumping from opponent to opponent striking them as they go. Their ability to use very limited arcane magic allows for slight versatility, but is not a main factor of the Glaive. Glaives prefer to work in teams, knocking their opponents out of the fight quickly. For larger opponents a flanking tactic is their most useful tool.

Resources: A Glaive can contact/be contacted by his order by organization couriers or sending stones. A Glaive may call in a favor, but unless it is a matter of utmost emergency chances are it wont be granted.

Most towns and villages around will grant free lodging to Glaives.


Glaives in the World

Glaives are the most elite guard in the world, made up mostly of humans, elves, half elves, and other humanoid races. They work directly under the king or government who instills power in them. They join the order of their own free will, and get paid very little for the missions they complete.

NPC Reactions: NPCs are generally fearful of Glaives due to the rumors abut them being ill tempered, and prone to violent outbursts.


Glaive Lore

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (history) or (arcana) can research Glaive's to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

21 How warp strike works, and that there are two other leaders besides the King, the General and the Captain.
26 The Power is only actually focused through the king as a conduit from a magical stone from the beginning of time.


Glaives in the Game

PC and NPC glaives all take orders from the Captain, General, and King, no exceptions.
