|benefit=The deity points to any mortal within 100 feet per divine rank and snuffs out its life. There must be an unbroken line of effect between the deity and the target.  This ability works like the ''[[SRD:Destruction|destruction]]'' spell, except that there is no material component. The mortal is allowed a [[Fortitude]] saving throw with a DC of 10 + 1/2 HD + [[Cha]] modifier. Even if the save succeeds, the subject takes 1d6 points of damage per divine rank, which may kill it anyway. If the attack kills the mortal (either through a failed saving throw or through damage), the mortal cannot be raised or resurrected afterward, except by a deity of equal or higher rank using the [[Gift Of Life (3.5e Feat)|Gift Of Life]] salient divine ability.  This is a Death effect.  A creature which successfully saves is immune to your Hand Of Death for 24 hours.

If you have 6 divine ranks, you are no longer restricted to mortals and may attempt to snuff out the life force of immortals as well, though they receive a +4 bonus to their saving throw.  In addition those who successfully save, while still immune to instant death, will take damage as if they had successfully saved with repeated use of Hand Of Death.

If you have 11 divine ranks, this ability is no longer considered a Death effect and may even slay Constructs and Undead.  Immortal beings no longer receive the +4 bonus to their saves.  When you kill a being with your ability, you may duplicate the effect of ''[[SRD:Soul Bind|soul bind]]'' and trap their soul provided you have the focus component.

If you have 16 divine ranks, creatures that successfully save are only immune to your Hand Of Death for 1 minute.  You may now use Hand Of Death as an attack action by making it a touch range effect.
