An ornate silver and gold helmet is decorated with an angelic stylized face on its crown and two silver wings from the side. It lifts into the air with a glowing halo of light behind it.

Lesser members of the angelic order known as logos, helmengels are celestials dedicated to the guardianship and protection of mortals. These literal guardian angels are sent to aid mortals invisibly protecting them from harm, or manifesting visibly to help fight to keep danger away from their charges. They appear as floating empty helmets often adorned with ornate celestial imagery, and the presence of metallic wings as "ears", "horns", or other décor. They can be worn and sometimes mortals wear them without realizing what exactly they have donned.

Helmengels rarely speak, but they do speak Common and Celestial. Their voices echo and sound metallic. They are the size, shape, and weight of a helmet and are capable of minor shapechanging to fit various designs of helmet, though all with some manner of wing motif.

CombatEdit

Helmengels are usually assisting others, never fighting alone. They're not terribly strong or fast, but are fairly durable and can disguise as a normal helmet if they do not move.

Glow (Ex): A helmengel can glow as a free action up to the brightness of a torch.

Immunities (Ex): Helmengels are immune to critical hits and sneak attacks, exhaustion, fatigue, fear, disease, nausea, paralysis, poison, sickening, and stunning. They are not immune to mind-affecting effects.

Protective Helmet (Ex): A helmengel can be worn as a helmet. In this state it can only take a standard or move action, and it offers its user its armor bonus (+2 armor bonus) which stacks with other armor bonuses. However, it is denied its Dexterity if attacked directly. It is considered an attended object and is not separately struck by area effects when worn. It is treated as grappled for the purpose of being targeted by attacks. Non-area effect attacks directed to it are shared with its user as if using shield other. It possesses telepathy with its user when worn.

While being worn as a helmet, the helmengel provides the user with an amount of mental protection. If the user fails a save against a mind-affecting effect, it targets the helmengel instead. While it is subject to any charm or compulsion it cannot attack its user treating them as if they were a familiar and vice versa. They may only protect a user like this 1/day.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will- detect evil, invisibility (self only); 1/day- aid, cure moderate wounds, remove fear. The saving throws are Charisma based.

Skills: A helmengel has a +8 racial bonus on Disguise checks to appear as a normal helmet.

FamiliarEdit

Helmengels can be used as familiars for lawful or good non-evil spellcasters with the Improved Familiar feat and at least caster level 7th.
