A Knightly prestige class focused on ultimate defense and protection. 15 Other Other

Juggernaut Knight[edit]

You shall not pass!

Knights start out as defenders. As they grow in level the paths before them can vary, but some stay the course with a focus on defense above all. Taking inspiration from the defensive constructs like the Iron Golem, these Knights become completely immovable objects. They keep the enemy's attention on them, where they shrug off all blows in their all-encompassing armor.

This class was inspired by Eiji's Colossus Knight.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Juggernaut Knight.

Armor Focus: At level 1, the Juggernaut Knight chooses a heavy armor and great shield. These act as a focus for some of his abilities, which will be inactive unless he is wearing the chosen armor and shield. In exchange, these items become completely indestructible except under a suitably rare circumstance, like being thrown into the primordial volcano.

Should he lose his focused armor or wish to change them to other items, he can perform a one-week ritual to designate a new set of armor and great shield as his focused armor.

Designate Opponent (Ex): The Knight's Designate Opponent class feature continues to scale with the Juggernaut Knight's class level.

Great Constitution: The Juggernaut Knight gains an inherent bonus to Constitution equal to his class level.

Juggernaut Size (Ex): At 1st, 3rd, and 5th level, the Juggernaut Knight gains a virtual size category. The Juggernaut Knight's actual size and space remain the same but he can count himself a size larger whenever beneficial. This stacks with powerful build.

For each virtual size category (including those granted by other effects), the Juggernaut Knight's threatened area for melee attacks expands by five feet. However, the Juggernaut Knight's reach does not expand. To make an Attack of Opportunity, the Juggernaut Knight must make a Jump check (DC 10 for every 5 feet of movement; this is not halved even if you count as having a running start). If successful, the Juggernaut Knight moves to the closest square such that he could reach his target and can attack. If failed, the Juggernaut Knight still moves but cannot attack and falls prone. This movement provokes Attacks of Opportunity, but not from the Juggernaut Knight's target.

This class feature only applies so long as the Juggernaut Knight is wearing his focused armor.

Golem Traits (Ex): At 2nd level, the Juggernaut Knight's armor begins to become imbued with a reflection of his own life force, and in turn he gains some construct traits. He gains low-light vision and darkvision out to 60 feet. He becomes immune to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning, disease, and death effects. He is constantly under the effect of an adapt body spell. And finally, he gains 50% fortification. As a result, however, he only gains half the benefit from cure spells and effects, though repair spells now work on the juggernaut knight as if they were a construct. This class feature only applies so long as the Juggernaut Knight is wearing his focused armor.

Juggernaut Defense (Ex): When an ally within the Juggernaut Knight's threatened area is attacked with an effect that requires an attack roll, he may attempt to intercept the attack and take the blow instead. He makes a Jump check (DC equal to the attack roll; this is not halved even if you count as having a running start). If successful, the Juggernaut Knight moves adjacent to his ally into a square that would intercept the attack (this can include his ally's square if necessary). This movement provokes Attacks of Opportunity, though not from the original attacker.

The attack is then targeted at the Juggernaut Knight instead, and must pass his armor class normally.

Living Armor (Su): At 3rd level, the Juggernaut Knight's armor will continue to move even after they have expired. If the Knight is killed, his armor will reactivate within 1d10 rounds of death. The armor is a Construct with the same HD, BAB, and saves as the Knight and has 10 hp per level. It also retain's the Knight's feats. It has no Con or Int score but has the same Strength and Dexterity scores as its user, Wis 10, and Cha 1. It has limited intellect but has fragments of the user's personality, having the same alignment, general goals, and limited speech. It has none of the class features other than class features gained via this class. Its primary goal is to finish the fight, or flee with the user's remains and have it revived. In effect the dying colossus knight can give it a single task when he dies for the armor to complete. This class feature only applies so long as the Juggernaut Knight is wearing his focused armor.

If the colossus knight is revived, the living armor returns to being an object. If the construct-form of the armor is reduced to 0 hp or below, it becomes inert (though it is not destroyed, as the Knight's focused armor is indestructible).

Unstoppable Force (Ex): For every five feet a Juggernaut Knight moves before attacking, he gains a +1 Circumstance bonus to Strength for his next attack only, up to his class level.

Immovable Object (Ex): At 5th level, a Juggernaut Knight becomes a living form of an iron colossus. He becomes immune to necromancy effects and cannot be polymorphed or his form changed (even by allied effects). He is rendered completely immune to cure spells, though repair spells continue to work. He can be repaired as if a construct himself. Finally he gains complete immunity to critical hits and sneak attacks with 100% fortification. This class feature only applies so long as the Juggernaut Knight is wearing his focused armor.

In addition, his inherent spell resistance becomes a golem's magic immunity, rendering him immune to all spells which require spell resistance. This class feature only applies while the Juggernaut Knight is wearing his focused shield. As a standard action, he can expand this immunity into an antimagic field with unlimited duration, or dismiss it as a standard action.
