A nightmarish creature, hidden away in the depths of ancients catacombs. The kaladraugrs is a strange maita, a half-undead half-outsider abomination looking like a mostly flayed decomposed corpse. The Kaladraugr is the psychic imprint of hunger animating the corpses of dead evil psions after death. These creature are very tough, possess intense psychic powers, but are slow and stiff because of their rigor mortis laden body. The kaladraugrs are happy skulking in deep tombs forever, going out at night to hunt living creature for flesh and souls.

A very smart creature, it will attempt to mind control before confrontations, leading those it can control to their death. It will remain invisible as long as it can, passing through walls and hiding until the time is prime for them to strike their target. They prefer to kill through strangulation, then devour the body to heal itself.

Combat

Break Control (Ex): Kaladraugrs are animated with significant psychic power, making them able to break the bounds that chain other undeads. If the Kaladruagr is controlled through having being rebuked or through the command undead spell it has 10% chance per day of breaking free of the control.

Devour Soul (Ex): As a standard action touch attack, the maita can consume the soul of a creature which has perished within 1 minute, storing it within themselves. They automatically do this as a free action with no touch attack if they are the one who slew the creature. A devoured soul remains with the maita's body and the creature cannot be revived by anything short of true resurrection, miracle, wish, or a limited wish to release the soul followed by any valid revival attempt. Alternatively the death of the maita releases all consumed souls. It takes a year and a day for the maita to digest a soul.

Devour Flesh (Ex): As a 1-round action, a kaladraugr can devour the corpse of a creature. Upon doing so it devour it soul (as above) if it didn't already and recover a number of hit points equal to creature's HDs. It take twice as long for the kaladraugr to devour a corpse for each size category it is above medium, similarly it only take a standard action to devour the corpse of a small creature and a move action for anything smaller.

Entombment Helplessness (Ex): If the Kaladraugr is placed in a proper coffin, tomb or similar container it become completely immobile and unable to escape. It is only capable of mental action until the tomb is opened. It will typically attempt to use it telepathy to escape it containment, luring in adventurers and thieves to free it.

Psi-Like Abilities: At Will— detect psionics, dimension slip, ethereal permeation, ethereal smoke (DC 24), inertial armor, mind control (DC 24), warp cloak. Manifester level 12th. The save DCs are Wisdom-based.

Strangulation (Ex): A creature pinned by a kaladraugr is unable to breath and thus need to hold her breath. If a kaladraugr manage to pin a creature for 3 rounds in a row, it may attempt to break the creature's neck, the creature is allowed a Fortitude save (DC 24) or die. If the save is successful the creature is allowed an immediate grapple check to escape the grapple.

Telepathy (Su): A Kaladraugr possess telepathy with a range of 150 feet.

Turn Resistance (Ex): A Kaladraugr has a +4 turn resistance.
