Knight of Darkness

A Knight of Darkness is a less martial focused antipaladin, instead possessing greater magical abilities. They often find comfort and supports from dark patrons, who has them fight for various dark goals. Some knight of darkness pursue their own personal goals, such as vendettas, rampant nihilism, madness and desire for utter destruction or even more sympathetic goals such as fear and despair over their coming death.

The Knight of Darkness is inspired by villains from the Final Fantasy series and other RPGs. Despite this, it flavor should be flexible and suited for most games.

Class: AntipaladinPathfinder

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: BAB, Spellcasting, Aura of Cowardice, Detect Good, Plague Bringer, Channel Negative Energy, Aura of Vengeance, Aura of Sin, Unholy Champion

Benefit: A Knight of Darkness possess medium BAB (as a Cleric) instead of full BAB. Additionally she gain access to the following class features.

Armor and Weapon Proficiency: As the Antipaladin, except that a Knight of Darkness may trade her Medium and Heavy Armor proficiency for a proficiency with a single exotic weapon.

Spellcasting: A Knight of Darkness cast spontaneous divine spell, using the same spell per day and spell known progression as a Bard. She draw her spells from the antipaladin list and the sorcerer/wizard list. She may not pick spells with a descriptor of an opposed alignment (as a cleric). A Knight of Darkness use her Charisma bonus to determine her spells per day and the DCs of her spells.

A Knight of Darkness often worship a patron, which grant them two domains much like a cleric. The patron is usually an, archdevil, demon lord or evil deities and grant a domain in association with their portfolio. She gain the chosen domains's power as a cleric of her class level and add domains' spells to her spell known whenever she gain access to the correct spell level. The Knight of Darkness also gain a single additional spell slot per spell level she can cast, however she may only use those spell slots to cast her domain granted spells. Alternatively if the Knight of Darkness fight for a goal she may select domains which suit her goal well instead.

Dark Gaze (Ex): A Knight of Darkness is able to peer into darkness and see what is hidden within, she gain darkvision 60 ft. or improve her current darkvision by 60 ft. As a move action, she gain the ability to see through magical darkness within 60 feet for 1 round.

Smite Nemesis (Su): As the Antipaladin ability except it does not grant a deflection bonus to AC. Whenever she recover her spells each day, the Knight of Darkness may meditate on her goals and declare a single 'nemesis', for the next 24 hours her smite good function on her nemesis no matter their alignment and her smite deal 2 damages per class level instead of 1. The Knight of Darkness must be have seen her nemesis previously at least once, she cannot choose a creature whose existence she is not directly aware of.

If a Knight of Darkness smite a creature and the smite attempt would be wasted, she may become Dazed for 1 round instead of wasting her smite attempt. This bypass any immunities the Knight of Darkness may have.

Arms of Darkness (Ex): A Knight of Darkness is an able fighter, although not as martially focused as some of her peers. At 1st level she gain Weapon Focus as a bonus feat even if she does not meet the prerequisites. As long as she wield a weapon she has Weapon Focus it is under the effect of corrupt weapon, the weapon still benefit from the full effect if it critical hit has been magically altered.

Aura of Heartlessness (Su) A 3rd level Knight of Darkness no longer suffer from any morale penalties (such as from crushing despair). All creatures within 10 ft. of the knight of darkness have any moral bonus they benefit from reduced by 2 or halved, whichever gives the lower bonus (to a minimum of 0). Since their heart have hardened, they are unable to use or benefits from the Aid Another action. The Knight of Darkness can resume or suppress this aura as a free action, it only function while she is conscious.

The Knight of Darkness can as a swift action, she can expend a use of Touch of Corruption to grant herself a temporary hit points equal to twice her class level, these temporary hit points do not stack and last for 24 hours.

Wave of Darkness (Su): A 4th level Knight of Darkness may use her Touch of Corruption ability as a ranged touch attack with a range of 30 feet.

At 8th level she may spend two uses of Touch of Corruption as a full-round action to unleash it a 20-ft. spread centered on herself, a successful Fortitude save halves the damage and negate any cruelty placed on it.

Dark Holy (Sp) An 11th level Knight of Darkness may spend two uses of her smite good ability as a 1 round action to manifest a powerful evil incantation. She create a wave of profane energy in a 40-ft.-radius spread within close range, dealing 1d8 unholy damage per class level to all creatures caught in it, a successful Will save halves the damage. The residual dark energy leave an unholy blight effect 1 round after, which is centered on the origin point of the dark holy and last for 1d4 rounds.

She may exclude any non-good creature from the effect as a free action but not from the residual effect.

Aura of Dark Awe (Su): At 14th level, the Knight of Darkness radiate an aura which cause lesser creatures to cower and prostrate themselves before her. All hostile creatures of 5 HDs or less within the aura are At Bay from her. If she successfully demoralize opponent on a creature within her aura, it must make a Will save or fall to it knees and kneel in addition to the normal effect. Finally as a full-round action she may attempt to demoralize opponent against all opponents within her aura. The Knight of Darkness can resume or suppress this aura as a free action, it only function while she is conscious.

Champion of Darkness (Su) A 20th level Knight of Darkness has unlocked the true power of darkness, allowing her to assume a dark and powerful form. As a full-round action she may spend three uses of smite good, when she does she undergo a dark transformation and gain the Half-Fiend template, grow one size category (as per expansion) and gain a number of temporary hit point equal to her maximum hit point. In this form she can use her Dark Holy and Smite Good ability without expending any uses.

Whenever the Knight of Darkness is damaged in this form, she may either take the damage to her temporary hit point or to her actual hit point, divided as she choose. When the temporary hit points are depleted she return to her normal form and is left Staggered for 1 minute and exhausted. The transformation may otherwise be dismissed as a standard action, healing the Knight of Darkness by the amount of temporary hit point left in her pool then immediately losing them. The transformation can only be maintained for up to an hour, after which it end as if it was dismissed.
