DM's Note: Amurali and the Noa Herders

Long before the invention of the voidship, there was a young sand giant girl, a child of a nomadic dew gatherer. One day

Now a desolate desert, the shard of Helsinsid was once a cutural and spiritual mecca where those of any shard could come to reflect in the grand temples of the its' holy cities.

Governed by a powerful desert goddess, Palantium's sister shard held churches and schools of hundreds of beliefs and traditions, untampered with by the Imperial Union. On an average day, one might see Sayatamese witches mingling with tattooed monks of Biel-Sharab, shops selling plants and herbs from the deadly jungle shard of Uvifluen, even archons from the celestial planes attending the strange bazaars of the capital of Enumpera. Fighting was rare here, since the peace was kept by a mounted police force known as the Il'noa, the sacred knights of the desert goddess Amurali, patron of Helsinsid.

But all good things, as they say, must come to an end.

Descending upon the shard like a dark pestilence, the Imperial Navy attacked Enumpera and it's surrounding cities, penning their inhabitants in with magic as their mages conjured terrible energies to tear the cities apart. In a battle that last merely three days, the population was nearly wiped out, the cities destroyed, and the goddess slain by none other then Madae Abbas.

Today, about twenty-three years later, the shard is roamed by the remenants of the Il'noa and a few sand giant and human tribes. The Empire never left the shard, building a massive naval outpost over the ruins of Enumpera, a warning to all that no one goes against the absolute rule of the Potenate

You see, the ships were used in our grand grand grand ancestors time to cross the ocean, but now there is no more ocean so we cross the void between the shards with it.
