Mark of Summoning
Transmutation
Level: Cleric 3, Druid 3, Ranger 2, Sorcerer/Wizard 2
Components: V, S
Casting time: 1 minute
Range: Touch
Target: One object or willing creature
Duration: Permanent
Saving Throw: None (harmless)
Spell Resistance: No

You place an arcane mark upon the target object or creature, that fades into invisibility once finished. It only becomes visible when magically excited or called upon, or when observed with the help of spells that detact magical auras.

The mark establishes a bond between you and the object or creature in question. A summoning or calling spell of sufficient level can be used to bring the creature or object to you.

If the marked target is a creature, the minimum spell level of the summoning or calling is equal to the highest level spell a wizard with a caster level equal to the marked creature's Challenge Rating is able to cast or 3, whichever is higher.

If the marked target is an object, the spell level depends on the object's size. Objects of Medium size or smaller, and with a weight of less than 25 pounds require a 1st level spell. For every additional spell level, the object may be up to four times as heavy. and for every two additional spell levels, the object's size category may be one higher, up to a maximum size of Colossal and weight of 1,638,400 pounds at 9th level.

The summoning of the creature or object is unbounded by the duration limit of the spell used to summon it. For all intents and purposes, you bring the creature or object to you. Your current location must be spacious enough to contain the marked creature or object in question, or the summoning fails. The summoning is dismissible at will, which will return the marked object or creature to the location it was summoned from. By concentrating upon the mark for 1 minute, you may 'set' a summoned object to its current location. The object will return to the new location when dismissed.

Summoning a marked object or creature never requires an XP cost, even if the summoning or calling spell used normally does.
