He was once a man, a psion, who brought together the world and uplifted all within. Though his kingdom is no more, his legacy lives on.

Origin[edit]

It is said Merlotogik was born a mortal man with psionic abilities far above and beyond most, but leaving his body crippled and frail. He suffered, yet in his suffering he could empathize with others and even those who were without voices or those with limited capacity for reasoning. Viewing existence as a gift to be experience, he then turned his efforts to trying to awaken all others into a position not unlike him, sans his physical limitations, and in doing so make a better world.

The details of his story vary, but each ends with him uplifting animals to human intellect, and bringing a great psionic awakening to the world of man. A great city is built as a center-piece for his psionic kingdom, and he lay in the center of it all. This mystical kingdom was known as Aur Oculus, and it is a place sought by many for being filled with treasures, knowledge, and magic. The city eventually fell to some unspecified disaster, but it is said that when Merlotogik perish his soul continued to burn in the great psionic gestalt and he ascended to godhood.

Description[edit]

Merlotogik is described as a bald gaunt man in a wheelchair, his face obscured with holy light and his forehead marked with nine dots, psionic crystals embedded within the flesh. He seems at peace and calm, and looking upon him is said to grant visions and secret knowledge.

Dogma[edit]

Merlotogik wishes to continue his work of uplifting, enlightening, and ascending. He is not picky upon who he grants his boons, so long as those with the power continue to strive for advancement of life as a whole. As part of it, a certain amount of respect for all living things is expected of followers but the degree in which they follow this varies. Rumors that he is an insidious tendril of something terrible seeking to change the world into a suitable vessel, and that the destruction of Aur Oculus was his fault, are nothing more than heretical lies.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Deeply associated with psionics, Merlotogik's temples are often great crystal spires resonant with psionic energy. Clerics are often psions as well as divine casters. In fact, Merlotogik offers a psionic mantleCPsi to his divine mind, ardent, and similar followers.
