Mirror Plate

This suit of plate armor fashioned of silvery mirror-like plates hails from the Magocracy of Aynfald, where it was the signature equipment of its elite law enforcement units. Designed for the containment of magic users, a mirror plate deflects away magical rays and protect its wearer against all sorts of spells.

  1. If the character has some help, cut this time in half. A single character doing nothing else can help one or two adjacent characters. Two characters can't help each other don armor at the same time.
  2. The wearer must have help to don this armor. Without help, it can be donned only hastily.

Mirror plate is fashioned from alchemically treated silver and backed by an underlay of riveted leathers. A full suit contains a breast-and-back, visored helm, pauldrons, tassets, greaves and boots. Mirror plate lacks the physical defenses and durability of conventional heavy plate armor, but makes up for it by providing a strong bulwark against magical and elemental forces.

A mirror plate grants the following benefits when worn, on top of its general protective capabilities:

  • The mirror plate's armor bonus applies to your touch AC.
  • You have a 50% hindrance to light effects, and gain the mirror plate's armor bonus as an enhancement bonus to saving throws against light effects and gaze attacks.
  • You have a 30% chance to harmlessly deflect any rays and gaze attacks outright.

The mirror plate itself is vulnerable to sonic damage and the shatter spell. If the armor is reduced to 0 hit points due to sundering or otherwise, the above benefits disappear until the armor is repaired. Repairing a broken mirror plate requires alchemical tools and a DC 35 Craft (alchemy) check.

Craft (alchemy and armorsmithing) DC 32. Market Price 4200 gp.
