OakforgedEdit

Oakforged are Warforged make with living wood, or the evolved form of a sapling planted in a fallen Warforged's chest. The first Oakforged was created long after the last of the great Creation Forges were shut down, and by accident no less. A simple acorn took root in the rotting wood fibres within the corpse of a fallen Warforged, and the tree grew, but not as it normally would - The tree absorbed the soul of the fallen Warforged, and grew into a shape resembling the fallen construct, which took on the Warforged's sentience after it reached is size. Reborn, the newly-named Sylamar The First uprooted himself and left, carrying his old body, for the lands where other Warforged had fallen.

With the realization of this new miracle of life, Sylamar gained power a druid and began a cult of sorts, of Warforged who felt like unnatural abominations and who wanted to be closer to the natural world, and to experience life as a more "living" creature. Using his magic, he speeds the growth of the trees planted within the new initiates and keeps the others healthy.

PersonalityEdit

Like the Warforged, the ways of humanoids are alien to Oakforged, and their personalities don't improve much when they transform. However, their connection to nature gives them greater ability to understand animals, as well as having a natural ability to communicate with plants.

Physical DescriptionEdit

Oakforged typically appear to be Warforged made entirely of wood, with bark for skin, vine-like muscle cords and small branches, complete with leaves, protruding from their shoulders and head. On these brnahces typically hang nuts or berries, sometimes apples or other fruit, depending on the

RelationsEdit

Oakforged are typically friendly toward any Warforged they meet, and will talk about their transition from golem to plant and attempt to convince the Warforged to do the same in much the same way a Cleric tries to get their friends to join the flock. They get on well with elves, fey and other natural creatures, but they dislike aberrations and undead.

AlignmentEdit

Most Oakforged tend toward a neutral alignment, partially due to their predilection to be Druids.

LandsEdit

Oakforged are generally found wandering in forests, typically near where Warforged are known to reside or near old battlefields where Warforged have fallen.

ReligionEdit

Most Oakforged have Druidic views on religion, whether they are actually Druids or not. They respect the natural world and defend it as much as possible.

LanguageEdit

Oakforged know Common from their time as a Warforged, and also speak Sylvan from instinctual knowledge.

NamesEdit

Each Oakforged chooses a new name after their transition, often with an accompanying title instead of a surname. These almost always relation to nature in these names, like Terra Birdfriend, Ignatious Sunwatcher, or

Racial TraitsEdit

  • +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma: Like their construct counterparts, Oakforged are tougher than a normal human, and not as adept at social interactions, but their connection to nature gives them insight they otherwise wouldn't have, and their new forms possess more physical might than their old ones.
  • Plant
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, an oakforged has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
  • Oakforged base land speed is 30ft feet.
  • Plant Traits (Ex): Being plants, Oakforged are immune to poison, paralyzation, stunning, sleep, critical hits and polymorph. Unlike other plants, Oakforged are not mindless. Oakforged eat and breathe, but do not sleep.
  • Powerful Build (Ex): Due to the hulking form of their treelike bodies, Oakforged can count as one size larger whenever it would be beneficial to them.
  • Wild Features (Ex): Oakforged have bark for skin. This functions as the Composite Plating of a Warforged (Granting a +2 Armor bonus to AC and 5% Arcane Spell Failure that takes up the Armor slot and can be enchanted as a suit of armor), except the Oakforged can't take feats to change this to metallic plating. Oakforged also possess a natural Slam attack that deals 1d4 points of damage.
  • Grasping Roots (Ex): An Oakforged has moderate control over the small vines and roots that cover their bodies. When grappling an opponent, the Oakforged can cause them to become Entangled in addition to the normal effects. The Oakforged can also Root himself to the ground as a standard action, immobilizing himself but granting him a +8 bonus on Balance checks, Climb checks, and checks to resist involuntary movement, such as bull rushes, trips, and so forth, but being immobilized, the Oakforged loses his Dexterity bonus to AC and can't make Reflex saving throws. While Rooted, the Oakforged can spend a standard action to extend his roots into adjacent squares, effecting them as if by the Entangle spell, and this can be continued indefinitely, but requires the Oakforged to spend a standard action each round concentrating to maintain the effect, just like concentrating on a spell.
  • Photosynthesis (Ex): Oakforged, like many plants, can generate their own nourishment from soil, water and sunlight. Instead of eating, the Oakforged only needs a gallon of water a day and at least an hour's exposure to sunlight and fertile soil. The Oakforged must be rooted during this time, as per their Grasping Roots ability, but time spend Rooted during combat doesn't count toward this ability. Oakforged can still consume potions and the like, but don't need to eat like humanoids do.
  • Plant Empathy (Ex): Being plants with a special connection to nature, the Oakforged can talk to plants and plant creatures as if constantly under the effects of Speak with Plants. The Oakforged can use the Diplomacy skill (And Wild Empathy, if they possess it) on plants as if they were humanoids or animals, and use their Wisdom modifier in place of their Charisma modifier when using Wild Empathy, and on Diplomacy when using it on plants.
  • Fruitbearer (Su): Whether it be nuts, berries, apples, oranges, or the like, each Oakforged has fast-growing food on them, which regrows each day once they've had their period of photosynthesis. They produce 2d4 nuts, berries or pieces of fruit which, when eaten, affect the target as per Goodberry. While the Oakforged can't gain nourishment from the fruit, they can gain the ability damage restoration. The fruit grows fast, but decays just as fast; Unused fruit or nuts lose their Goodberry properties after 12 hours and rot after 24 hours.
  • Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan
  • Bonus Languages: Any, except secret languages such as Druidic.
  • Favored Class: Druid or Ranger
  • Level Adjustment: +1
  • Effective Character Level: 2
