Papilionals can conjure a falchion made of starlight, which is a powerful weapon on its own.  They can threaten out to 30 ft in distance, and typically stay just outside of reach while taking advantage of attacks of opportuity.  They use their spells to buff, employ battlefield control, or even simply assault at a distance.

'''Alternate Form {{Su}}:'''  A papilional can transform into a giant butterfly made of light as a standard action.  In this form it is Large, and gains the incorporeal subtype.  It becomes unable to make any attacks except its Lay on Hands and Stardust Trail abilities, but gains an incorporeal touch attack which deals 1d6+10 damage (the damage is [[Charisma]] based).  This is considered [Light] damage, and deals double damage against creatures sentitive to light.  Against lycanthropes, it forces them to make a DC 25 Change Shape check or revert to their normal form.

A papilional does not need to eat, sleep, or breath in their transformed state and can travel through hazardous terrain easily thanks to their ghostly nature.  It emits light anywhere from a [[SRD:Candle|candle]] to a [[SRD:Torch|torch]], controlled as a free action.  They cannot speak in this form.  It can remain in this form as long as it wants, and transforms back as a standard action.
