I am the shape of determination. I am the undying hope, the righteous anger, the violent passion, the cry of the rebel, and the bitter toxin of spite and revenge. Men call upon me crying for retribution, and in their darkest moment I answer. I am their light, and it is a light that shall scorch the heavens.

The original form of the being known as Phalaris is not known. Perhaps they were mortal, or perhaps a demigod or actual deity. What is known is that this person interacted with the gods of his age a great deal, and personally. Through some deific trick he was betrayed and led to a life of ruin and shame, and a dark anger overtook him against the gods. So it was that he took the sword to those he once worshiped or called kin, but his quest was incomplete and in the end he failed. As punishment he was locked away in a sea of molten glass to suffer for all eternity. And so his rage grew, and grew, and grew until he embodied the very essence of rage and he begin to show up again in new forms and new lives.

Thus began the appearance of those who would mantle the essence of Phalaris. These destined souls would experience events in their lives that would fill them with rage and a desire for revenge, for justice, for retribution, or for chaos. Their normal rage would find no end and no release but they would be granted unnatural power and more often then not changed forms more brutal and demonic than before to reflect the rage they felt within. And with their new power they would often find and succeed in their quests eventually even though such power often led these same individuals into their own ruin. Thus once every 100 years if the previous holder of Philaris had been slain then a new destined soul would be born and the phantasmal rage would be borne anew.

This was the fate of an unnamed fire elemental who served within the City of Brass. Employed within their military ranks and then betrayed by their commander, this fire elemental who one day would take the name Pyron became a demon, becoming an outsider covered and composed of flames with a massive muscular flame and a set of bull horns which twist and curl into the shape of infinity. Now a mercenary and warlord, he has been gathering others to his cause to one day sack the City of Brass and crush it under his foot. Weak for now, his power is only growing as time passes until he succeeds or he is slain.

Phalaris Pyron still resembles a large fire elemental, and he speaks Ignan and Infernal. He is proficient in all simple and martial weapons, and shields.

CombatEdit

Though filled with fury, Phalaris Pyron is a tactical mind that will approach a threat with a plan in mind and the determination to see it through. It will coordinate any and all allies it has to its goal, and employ any trickery, bribe, or method to reach its achievements. If pressed with no plan, no option, or merely just wrapped up in its own anger it finds the source which it hates the most and focuses fire on them until they are dead or it becomes tactically unsound to focus fire. He expects no mercy, and grants none in return.

Change Shape (Su): Phalaris Pyron can change size to a Small, Medium, or Large version of itself or that the form of a fire of equal size as a standard action. As a flame it gains elemental traits in addition to its usual traits and can move and speak, but cannot make any attacks until it returns to a humanoid form as a free action on its turn.

Frenzy Curse (Su): As a free action on its turn, Phalaris Pyron can enflame any willing allies within 60 ft of itself into a rage. This is identical to a rage as a barbarian of their level (maximum level 10 with greater rage), and this does not consume any rage attempts they have. Those that allow themselves to go into this specialized rage cannot end it prematurely, and if they run out of opponents to attack they will turn onto the nearest creature including allies. Thus this is a considerable risk, but can provide allies with the boosts they need to survive. Phalaris Pyron itself is never a valid target by the enraged by this ability.

Phalaris Pyron can enrage themselves at will as a non-action, but often saves it for after they have used all their spell-like abilities or to grant himself additional health if they are dying taking advantage of the Phantom Health feat.

Heat (Ex): Phalaris Pyron's molten body deals 1d6 points of extra fire damage whenever it hits in melee, or in each round it maintains a hold when grappling. This also applies to any weapons it wields.

Phalaris Pyron can choose to have its inherent flames emit significant light, up to the amount of light of a campfire or bonfire of size equal to it. This is a non-action.

Immunities (Ex): Phalaris Pyron is immune to fire, and is also immune to all charm, compulsion, and negative morale effects.

Realm of Fire (Su): As a move action, Phalaris Pyron can emit an aura out to 500 ft that converts the local area into a burning hellscape version of itself. The surroundings heat up and appear to catch on fire, but are not consumed and the environment itself is not damaged. Creatures in the area take 1d6 fire damage every round, and creatures with the [Fire] subtype heal the same amount each round. [Cold] and [Water] effects are impeded, and [Fire] effects gain a +1 bonus on caster level.

This burning area is centered on Phalaris Pyron, and moves with him. It lasts for 1 minute, and has a 10 minute cooldown before it can be used again. If used on the Plane of Fire, it instead maximizes the environmental fire damage natural to the plane.

Sacrificial Pyre (Sp): Phalaris Pyron is capable of drawing various magical effects through sheer force of will, though the ritual requires a sacrifice, as a form of a minor version of wish. Once per day, it can duplicate any spell of 5th level or lower from any spell list but must consume valuables of any sort equal to the market price for a scroll of the same level. For example, it can duplicate feeblemind by spending 1125 gp in material components. The components are burnt to ash as part of casting, and cannot consume objects that cannot be destroyed.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will-detect law, detect magic, produce flame, pyrotechnics (DC 17); 3/day-gaseous form, fireball (DC 18), wall of fire (DC 19); 1/day-dispel magic, fear (DC 19). The save DCs are Charisma based, caster level 10th.

The Undying Flame of WrathEdit

Even if slain, Phalaris never truly dies. They are reborn and will reappear within a generation, if not sooner, in a new form and a new face. A method of finally quenching the demon's wrath is yet to be found, but take hope in that which each rebirth its desires and goals change to fit the needs and desires of its new host.
