Psionic Pools

Psionics characters run out of points real easily, much faster than a wizard runs out of spells. Many variant rules address this, but sadly allow psionic characters to go nova all day, which is also a bad thing. This variant rule gives two pools of psionic point to psionic characters.

Ephemeral Pool: The first pool is the ephemeral pool; this pool recharges at the rate of the psionic character's manifester level in power points per minute. The base amount of power points in the ephemeral pool is equal to one-quarter the power points granted by your class (so a 3rd level psion would have a base of 3 power points in her ephemeral pool) plus any power points granted by feats, race, templates and other sources. Points in the ephemeral pool may only be used to manifest, but cannot be used to augment powers or metapsionic feats.

Daily Pool: The second pool is the daily pool; it does not recharge and acts much like the psionic regular power point pool. The base amount of power points in the daily pool is equal to half the power points granted by your class (so a 3rd level psion would have a base of 6 power points in her daily pool) plus the power points granted by high ability scores.

The character may decide to use points divided as she wishes between both pools, as long as the power points are spent in a 'legal' way.

Examples

Jonnat West is a 2nd level Wilder, his charisma score is 18, and he has the born psionic feat. He has 4 power points in his ephemeral pool and 7 power points in his daily pool.

Noam Tarpless is a 6th level Psion, his intelligence score is 20, and he is a member of a psionic race (granting him an additional 3 power points). He has 12 power points in his ephemeral pool and 33 points in his daily pool.

Kaemes is a 10th level Psychic Warrior, her wisdom score is 20, and she is a member of a psionic race (granting her an additional 3 power points). She has 9 points in her ephemeral pool and 37 points in her daily pool.

Kal-Bei is a level 20 Ardent, her wisdom score is 30, and she possess the Born Psionic feat and is a member of a psionic race (that grants her an additional 3 power points). She has 109 points in her ephemeral pool and 272 points in her daily pool.
