Raven Queen Type: Deity |
The Raven Queen was a powerful elf queen who lived in them time when elves were united. Corellon and Lolth quarreled over the direction elves as a species should take. The elf queen and her followers performed a ceremony that should have given her the power needed to gain the attention of Corellon and Loth to hopefully convince them to end their conflict and reunite. However, there were some power-hungry elves who attempted to divert some of this power to themselvel. This caused the ritual to fail, shattering the elf queen and casting her spirit and her followers into the Shadowfell.
In the Shadowfell, the spirit of the elf queen coalesced with all of the power from the ritual and and memories of sorrow abundant in the Shadowfell, into a new being, the Raven Queen. She cursed the elf wizards that ruined the ritual, transforming them into the Nagpa. Her followers became the Shadar-kai.
The Raven Queen now resides in a huge fortress forged of shadow and memory, called the Fortress of Memories.Sources and Notes
