There was a rumbling sound hidden by the tall grass. It was coming closer... closer. Suddenly the grass before you was shredded and consumed as this massive tractor with spinning razors drove straight ahead at you!

When the Luna-Tesla Corporation's efforts in constructions continued to produce profit, they started seeing what other industrial jobs they could expand to. One of these fields, which robotics was already strong in, was farming. Using a combination of small drones and a larger hive which forms the base of the machine itself, they produced the Reaper-1826 Autonomous Combine, a powerful harvester to clear out the fields.

The Reaper-1826 Autonomous Combine is often red, yellow, green, or brown colored and built for utility, not looks. Its front end is dominated with an array of blades which spin around at high speed and draw matter into the combine itself to be processed and stored.

Combat[edit]

Even though it's not built for combat, combines are dangerous machines. In the past accidents occurred with terrible results, but machines know better and stop on a dime to prevent harm to humans. Of course, sometimes people override their safety protocols, and then...

Analyze Crops (Su): As a standard action, the autonomous combine can use its sensory array to determine the state of the area around it. Treat this as a commune with nature spell.

Crew (Ex): The autonomous combine has room for a crew of one medium creature, if piloted manually. Starting and running it requires a DC 10 Knowledge Xeno or Pilot check.

Harvester Trample (Ex): The autonomous combine has a trample ability with a special effect. The trample deals 6d6+5 slashing damage, Reflex DC 23 for half. The save DC is Strength-based. If a creature two sizes smaller that the combine fails the Reflex save, it can make a grapple check. If successful the creature gets stuck in the combine blades and are treated as grappled (the combine is not grappled itself), takes another 6d6+5 damage, and is carried along with the combine itself. Next round, the combine can make a swallow whole attempt to finish the job.

Programming: The autonomous combine possesses the following programs: Collect, Identify Object, Reposition, Search, Sort.

Sky Vision (Ex): Autonomous combines release tiny drones not unlike nixie drones which patrol a wide around around it high in the sky. In doing so, it is always aware of its surroundings and the progress of its work. It is treated as having a perspective of the area from 1 mile above centered on the combine. Subsequently, it is also immune to blindness as it always has another eye floating around somewhere.

Swallow Whole (Ex): A creature in the combine's grasp can be "swallowed" into its interior where gears and rollers crush their opponent. They take 6d6+5 bludgeoning damage every round until they deal at least 20 damage to the combine's interior (AC 15), or they can escape via a trap door in its interior (a DC 26 Disable Device check as a standard action). If damaged, nanomachines patch over the area with a tarry quick-drying substance, and the trap door locks behind. A combine can swallow up to 1 Large, 4 Medium, 8 Small, 16 Tiny, and 32 Diminutive or smaller creatures at a time.

Stability (Ex): Autonomous combines have stability as a dwarf, but gain a +8 bonus from weight and a wide base instead of a +4 bonus.

Construction[edit]

Reaper-1826 Autonomous Combines are build out of a composite of many different metals, plastics, and alloys which must be processed in a factory. In addition its computer core requires special components and programming. The cost of the base material components are worth 4400 gp.

Assembling the body requires a DC 26 Craft (technology) check, a DC 26 Knowledge Engineering, or a DC 26 Knowledge Xeno check.

CL 13th; Craft Construct, blight, lesser geas; Price 44,000 gp; Cost 19,800 gp + 1584 XP.
